I would suggest learning gesture drawing and exaggerating poses just a bit more to make the pose more interesting. A more simple design can deliver more than a hi polygon and complex one.

In all honesty I get were everyone is getting at, that It would be hard to judge since the art style is in fact different. But you have to remember, that like pencil drawing or anything in general, you start of with a style that either you the artist likes or is comfortable with. But as time does on, you either pick up on new styles and either start applying that to your old one or just start all over. So though the his old one is closer to the anime, it’s not really how it’s closer but *how much he improved* If you are an artist and you look back at your sketchbook, you’ll realize that if you redraw that one drawing let’s say you did a year ago, you’ll start to realize that the style is different, the shading, proportions. That’s how you know you improved, when you’re out of your comfort zone and trying new things. Anyways I saw the new one is way better. 👌🏻

You can improve! Some processes just slow down your improvement. Creating fewer, but more complex pieces means that you probably work with many tools and things over a long period of time instead of practicing with great focus on fewer areas. It might be harder to see improvement in those select areas you're noticing if you don't solely work on them in shorter more frequent projects.
@dungofrungus76595 жыл бұрын
To be fair most self taught artists never ask anyone for help and have too big of an ego and just shrug off any feedback. Since so many shrug off feedback, people stop wasting their time giving it. Or a self taught artist finds their own way of doing something, which generally doesnt lead to any sort of improvement whatsoever, and since everyone is busy trying to do things their own way everyone is just going off in different clueless directions. Its actually way more surprising if someone does improve at all in a year considering how bad of an ego a self taught artist develops by themselves. Seen people get lots of great feedback that falls upon deaf ears that just want to keep doing the same old same old as the months and years pile up before them. Theres also a huge rash of people trying to teach other people how to do art who barely know what they are doing in the first place, further misleading a lot of potential future artists. When shitty artists try to tell a beginner they don't really have to learn anatomy very well or some other bullshit advice.

I still prefer the first one. Looks more like "Ochako" than the new one.

Ok I'm not even going to pretend the first one was even bad, it was excellent. I just see it as you already were talented, you just did a different style and more detail this time. This update does look better, but the other is not inferior.
