Мало кто знает, что токарная обработка это обработка тел вращения а фрезерная - это обработка резанием плоскостей, , при которой режущий инструмент совершает вращательное движение. Few people know that turning is the processing of bodies of revolution, and milling is the processing of planes, in which the cutting tool performs a rotational movement.

I have read a lot of comments in this video. Negative comments, positive comments etc. Comments from rich , advanced and industrialized countries are turning it down. Yes, you can afford to buy a milling machine, that's why. And you are thinking to your self that you are so intelligent, but you did not understand what this guy in the video is trying to show you. He just want to show that there are so many operations you can do in the lathe machine, not only turning. If you are a talented latheman and you only have a lathe machine in your shop, and a drill press of course, you can do a lot of things. I am also a machinist, right now I am working onboard a ship. A shipping company has a lot of money, but in the ship's Machine Shop we only have lathe machine , drilling machine and welding equipments, but I can do whatever the chief engineer asked me to do. I can do worm gear, spur gear, internal spline, etc. This talent is very important in time of emergency when you are in the middle of the ocean. And what does these American and British chief engineers told me? They said "UNBELIEVABLE you are very talented , you save our soul". Lesson: that is the purpose of this video. Thank you and happy viewing.. from Philippines.

God himself probably cannot tell you how many men over the years have done milling operations on a lathe with simple attachments and tools. As a child I had a neighbor who built amazing steam locomotive models. His two main tools were a Lathe and a drill press. Often he built the tools he needed out of necessity. I cannot remember him ever owning a milling machine. He did have a shaper, but I never saw him use it. After he passed away my father had the job of cleaning out his shop. I was able to salvage some of his home made tools and things he built and even use much of it today for one thing or another in my shop. You sir mind me of my childhood neighbor. The boring head at 12:09, cleverly adjustable in two axes, is a most useful piece of work with good proportions. Elsewhere in the video can be seen how the the corners of the V ways are relieved by pre-drilled holes. Good design and well executed. When I drove my British made Austin Mini car around the world, three suspension ball joints broke while exploring India. I fashioned new ball joints by filing up mild steel bar in a lathe, treadle powered by its owner. The car made it back to London OK via Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran etc on those parts. Westerners need to look beyond their sophistication.
