I think its often forgotten that Alice is a fiend. She doesn't really fit their design motif but that doesn't mean she should be left out of fiend parties.

There are actually several Fiend that does not have Skull design such as En no Ozuno, Ghost Q, and Sage of Times. And then there was SMT 1 Hero, Law Hero and Chaos Hero in SMT If... that classifies them as Fiend

Remember playing SMTIII as a kid at it's release, where game faqs & playthroughs were not a thing. I was completely in shock when I got sucked into the Matador battle. Reaally struggled to beat the bastard with red capote, but once I finally did I realized what a great game I was getting myself into. It didnt disappoint me, and until this day I think that SMT:Nocturne is hands down, the best JRPG ever made.

The correlation between Fiends for the most part is that they are incarnations of death. The original Alice in Shin Megami Tensei was essentially like a Grim Reaper who collected dead people and reanimated them to fill roles as her friends and family, so she fits the bill.
