Nature is an amazing thing. All my life I have respected,loved and desired to learn about the life that surrounds us after we walk out the front door. I have tried to always connect with nature on its level and so often it has accepted me and my curiosities.
Today I was in my own little dream place of heaven on earth. Surrounded by so much nature, that I was in sensory overload. At one point, I was walking around the house and a Grey Rat Snake nearly ran me over as it headed off to the field near by. It made for a great opening moment in the video I believe.
Back to the bee removal video .... in this episode, I travel to North Alabama to remove a colony of bees from a home I've been to 5 times in the past few years to remove a hive of bees that showed up about a week earlier. Somewhere in that area there must be a huge colony close by that loves their house as much as the homeowners do. And every year the bees get smarter and try to hide better from Ol' Yappy Beeman. I say challenge accepted. And so far, I have found their nest every time.
This colony was really great to work with. They tolerated the rehome process without giving me to much trouble and I don't recall being stung a single time. I even like to believe that after I got them home and set them up in a new beehive, some of them even landed on me to show appreciation for my good work.
The kink in this one was all because of the queen bee. She was a slippery little gal and made me work hard to find her. But in the end she made her appearanc
e in true Royal form.
I do hope you enjoy this episode of my bee removing fun. I appreciate the feedback and hope to hear what you thought in the comments.
Yappy Beeman is a professional bee remover performing live honey bee removals in Alabama as "Alabama Bee Rescue" and relocates them to apiaries away from residential areas so they can rebuild and thrive as a honey bee colony producing honey. Yappy is an Alabama Beekeepers association member that has performed over 1000 live bee removals. Yappy with the help of his great friend and mentor; @Jpthebeeman, a professional beekeeper , has learned many skills to remove bee swarms and honey bee colonies safely for the bees and homeowners alike.

I taught my kid that the last thing bees want to do is sting people and not to freak out when a bee is near. Its been a few times that a bee gets near him, one time one landed on his hand and he kept calm, I was so freaking nervous but he handled it like a champ, I kept telling him not to move too fast and to just look at it, I told him the bee just wanted to taste the candy on his hand and eventually the bee just flew away i was so freaking proud

I love snakes. XOXO Glad to see someone else does too. I've got plenty in my yard in Appalachia; Rattlers (not very many), Copperheads, Blacksnakes, Red Corn snakes, King snakes (both kinds), Milk snakes, Garter snakes, Ringnecks--those are the ones I've seen anyway. I respect and love them very much. It may also be that my yard is the Wolf Spider capitol of the state (NC). They scare me, but I don't hurt them. If they're in my house, I catch them and release, waaaay down at the bottom of the ridge.

I got stung over 400 times at once by a ground hive of Yellow jackets.i managed to jump in a pond to get away, then crawled to my quad and drove it 10 miles to town for help. To watch you walk in to a swarm and actually move it to a safer location is fascinating to me..granted it's honeybees but still. Nice videos

@kbzoncapo777

The bees always follow the queen. So in cases of moving bees from a natural hive to an artificial one, you gotta make sure the queen is in the new place. If not, they would just return to where they were

Another great video Yappy! You’re so cool with the bees. I have two questions you’ve probably been asked before, but don’t you get stung quite often? And second does the vacuum cleaner hurt the bees? Mike from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
@YappyBeeman
@YappyBeeman 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. And yes, I do get stung but it all depends on the hive and a few other factors. But thankfully not as often as most would think (or hope). The vac is a special design that captures them into a box and doesn't kill them. A shop vac would.

@YappyBeeman

I always like to catch her to confirm she wasn't left behind. I prefer to do it by hand for the challenge mostly but so I can cage her also. This helps to keep the bees in the new setup for a few days without them leaving. They don't always stay. Why, I can't answer.

Love the snake. I used to keep snakes. Some for venom milking but most injured and put back in the bush. I milked the Tiapan a bit testy and watchful. But thankfully I was never bitten. I got them as babies. Fed them mainly mice I bred and froze most. But I enjoy you with the bees. Its a real blizard of bees. 🎉
