We Bought Our Dream Home After 1 Year in TINY HOME!

Me & my husband bought our first house at age 21 & 22. We completely redid our front and back yard by ourselves! Sprinkler system, fence, sod, garden beds, a chicken + goat area, planted some trees & a bunch of gravel too. It’s totally doable to do it all DIY. It may have taken us 3 years to get it where it’s at now but hey we did it ourselves and on a budget!

That bathroom in the basement is actually kind of dope , and the shed in the back is perfect for yard work stuff so you don't clutter up the garage. Congrats on the new place guys

Exactly, I would actually lean into it. Black slate spa walls or just black mold free/waterproofed paint over the and glossy pine or bamboo ceiling. Leave the floor, cabinet, and red sink or go oriental spa theme. There are reasons laminate floors from the 70s are actually pretty strong, durable, and absolutely waterproof and won’t shift in the basement. And if you do tear up those floors, you might need a professional to do it. Those floors are sturdy for a reason. Asbestos is the reason. Safe and tell disturbed and then you need to have your lungs protected.

What an Awesome house ... (you scored big with this being your first purchased home together .... AND you didn't (spend time/money) doing the remidel yourself. An unbelievable turn key find ... with yard space, shed, boat/fire pit area. Finished basement with BR & fireplace. Garage and storage area to die for; with room for a work out nook. Not hurting for storage space [Not sure if youll ever "need" to move. Room enough for 6 down the line. Wink. Two boys - Two girls.] Hope you play with one of those furniture decorating apps (apply floor/wall areas/dimensions and app lets you design & decorate the empty spaces to see what styles you like or flow best). Before you move furniture around. *BEFORE YOU PURCHASE FURNITURE.* IF split between styles & layouts. That long backwall (upstairs) would make an awesome "formal" livingroom space OR "formal" dining room space. Try a couch facing the wall, againstcthe wall or back of couch facing the entry door (or sngled facing wall/window). Room for foo-foo/abtique/modern matching chairs for seating. Rug. Round Mirror(s) and pictures on the back wall. Or, built in shelving (library or display nook) some closed shelving for storage if needed (work/office supplies or small items). But, long dining room table with rug and proper lighting would be elegant as well. An informal "breakfast" table to the left of entry if formal dining along back wall. Or, see if "formal" dining room length table looks nice at entry with "formal" livingroom along roght back corner/wall. Front window ... banquer area (like a hutch but bottom half only). Or, if room 2 matching chairs with a small tea/coffee table to sip tea/morning coffee ... read. Perhaps a kitchen/office work space nook under the window. Narrow desk. Slim chair or bench. Computor. Recepi box. Table lamp. Nice chair / plant / divider (something) to divide the 2 spaces. Decirate the back of a narrow shelf / book stand (kitchrn side) by painting and hanging open baskets (wicker ir wire) ... vegetables, mail, favorite cook book or spices. Or, surprise us. 😊 Can't wait to see what ideas you cone up with. They'll be great. Patience is a virtue. This was definately worth your tiny home experience. If America could experience (or go back to) this way of life ... more joy & happiness would exist. You're doing it ... right.

Congrats! Where will you put the big mower for that big yard? Plants and bushes are crazy expensive. If you wait until close to seasons changing the prices will drop. As we in GA go from Spring into Summer they will drop prices so be watching. I have about 30 colors of daylilies and several colors of calla lilies. Have Hosta and the list goes on and on. If you want to attract hummingbirds get some butterfly bushes. The key to growing plants here is GA is mulch! Have some huge calla lilies that are about waist-high. Will send you some pics on the gram.

I love it!! I'm a realtor and this is a home that Buyer's dream of!! You did good! PS - I love the character of the downstairs bathroom! LOL I also LOVE your laundry room and the yard is awesome! The carport has so many possibilities - excited to see what you do with it! Use the shed for your mower and yard stuff - that way it keeps the gasoline smell out of the garage and house. . . a shed is never a bad thing!!

Don't forget you also have the entire ceiling in the garage that you can use for storage to hang your bicycles, Canoe's tons of bins and containers, plastic containers for all of your holiday storage Christmas decorations, Halloween. use up the walls all the way up to the ceiling. You need to build-up to really maximize your storage. So you really do have a lot of storage. There pool gear, so many things. when you have children, all of their equipment bicycles, hula hoops, you name it. It's a great space graduations!!! By the way, I'm a new subbie:)))))
