This was such an impactful Khutbah for me. It actually went to the core of my heart. Alhamdulillaah for growth. Better to be oppressed than be the oppressor and allow your reward to be with Allaah. May Allaah guide us always and may He take care of all our affairs. May Allaah bless you Sheikh and the Yaqeen Institute for what you’re doing for the Ummah. Allaahumma Ameen.

It feels so good to take accountability and apologize instead of allowing shaytan to have a field day with the ego. As a newly married woman, I have been learning this and I’m so grateful to Allah for the growth I’ve been making towards eradicating my ego and immediately humbling myself by saying I’m sorry. Maa shaa Allah great khutbah. BarakAllahu feekum.

God I have such a hard time saying sorry now. I’ve been wronged so much in the past and taken advantage of when I say sorry that now I turned into someone who never likes being belittled. And I feel immense irritability and anger when someone wrongs me and I don’t feel good unless I say something to them or correct them. May Allah guide me I have a hard hard time to fix this now. Any advice anyone?

I feel very insecure about this. My maternal family (not my mum) was very emotionally abusive towards me. I ended up having CPTSD (complex post traumatic stress disorder) through the abuse of my maternal family. I’m in therapy now and taking medication and my parents (both Muslims) and my therapist (as well as other doctors) gave me the advice not to reach out to my maternal family as it may trigger and worsen my CPTSD and it’s symptoms. They also haven’t reached out me for 17 years now and to protect myself from any further harm I don’t wanna reach out to them. It doesn’t feel right to go back to my abusers.

If your family affects you negatively it’s permissible to cut ties, as long as you have tried and there’s nothing else you can do.

1 - Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah and Praise Him) a hundred times during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the sea [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:168, Sahih Muslim; #4:2071] 2 - whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme) Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by the Most Merciful One " [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:67, Sahih Muslim, #4:2071] 3

Asalam Alaikum dear brother and thanks for these thoughts. WHAT do you mean with "DIG DEEP"? Naming all that went wrong? Tell others within the family? Talking for example about domestic violence and child abuse.
@parif8327
@parif8327 2 жыл бұрын
Waalaikummussalam warahmatullahhi wabarakatuh. Im a sister, and just giving my thots here. I gathered from the idea of `dig deep´ is to find if there is any hatred within us towards that person.And if we have that feeling, then ask ourselves sincerely, how to forgive this person whom we thot has wronged us. I would say, this person didnt know better then, hence this person did that wrong things in the pass. If the person was given knowledge then, surely he/she would have not acted as such. So once we have settled that thought in our minds, find in us to sincerely forgive that person, and make doa to Allah to open a door for us to fix the problem, in a way tht both parties´ dignity are protected or even better, uplifted!. Let by gone be by gone. We know those who start to mend the relationship first will get a better reward than those who wait for the other party to make the move. Wallahhúalam. It is NOT easy brother, i know, but alhamdulillah we also know that all ease come from Allah, and i pray we all get the ease and peace. Ramadhan mubarak!

@@parif8327 Thank you sister. I recognize, that speaking the words "Peace and blessings on my parents and forgive them for my upbringing", speaking those words alone won't do. Well. Noone gets more, than he can bear. Have a good Ramadan.
