Great haul Magdad!!!! My Dad worked for NY Telephone for 42 years. I have some of his tools from that time. Stanley Yankee drills, Bell System pliers, wire cutters and electricians knives!!! Thanks for sharing!! My dad has been gone for 16 years but I still use his tools on a regular basis. Thanks again Magdad!!! The Old Army Scout…

In 2003 I re-roofed a house that I'd lived in for 25 years. Inside the box formed by the soffit and fascia I found a 24" folding boxwood rule that had been left there in 1937-8 when the house had been constructed! It was still in excellent condition.

I love buying box lots and this one was extra special. Lots of cool items. Just a few were: The button hook. My Dad made us button hooks to tighten the laces on our ice skates. The soap stone. Also called French Chalk. David Chadwick turned me onto using it to dress files before working on soft metal. It prevents the file from loading up and works much better than chalkboard chalk. The box itself. A tool box lasting that long in that good of condition is rare.

Great haul. You've got a real treasure chest. The background research is always appreciated. I've never seen that kind of a design on that small hacksaw. I know the Yankee handle on t he ice pick/ pokey thing is damaged, but possibly it can be repaired. The yankee letters look to like they are raised. A screaming deal for $6

Very good deal. I did recognize the button hook. My grandfather lost all but his pinky finger on his right hand a used a button hook to do-up his shirts. I could be wrong but that device that looks like a sardine can-opener may be for a type of ammo can. Sometimes called Ammo Spam Can there were a few different types made by different companies/countries. On the other hand, it could be for a very big food can. : )

Box rule, made from boxwood and brass, at one time most tradesmen had one, that's what the long pocket is for on overalls. The brass rod looks like a pipe expanding tool for making sockets on copper pipe.

Good buy. I appreciate not removing the prior owner's name. It is history, even if one cannot find out more about him. That chest is done right as well. Note the top fits the main body with all the sides matching the bottom. Probably deserves to be cleaned and possibly finished as a wood grain device.

Great find. Especially like the Stanley short folding rule. The Yankee I remember seeing those used as awls, that one probably took a hammer blow too many. Used to drink a lot of Rheingold back in PA. Still have the church key and the same button hook. Thanks

The brass plated tube flared on one end, is probably used for loading shotgun shells Wayback one of course the flared end allows the wads to be started. Of course, there would be a wooden dowel like Ram with a ball on the end of the dial to accommodate the palm of the hand
