I really didn’t want to buy more yarn. This was so soft and such a pretty color I couldn’t put it back. From comments the mercerized process adds strength and durability and gives a silk like feel. I can say with this skein I agree it is silk like soft.

Mercerized wool has a silklike luster and the softness of hand of cashmere. Because it has had the scales removed (and has been through a chemical alteration process similar to that for superwash wool), it will not felt. However, mercerized wool has an entirely different hand than either superwash or Merino top. It does not have as much loft as untreated wool, and the drape of the finished item is more like silk than wool. enjoy the yarn!!!!

I’m never in a worry I don’t have enough yarn. I might not have a color or weight for a specific item but I do have plenty of yarn. I’m looking forward to “hat day” 😊

No such thing as "a yarn diet". I like to think of "rescuing" yarn from Estate sales, thrift stores, unwanted yarn looking for a new home. I found some beautiful sparkly yarn yesterday from my local Thrift store. It may grace my tree in an upcoming video 😊

I'm not sure about mercerized wool. I thought only plant fibers, (cellulose) could be mercerized. My understanding is applied to cellulose and it strengthens the stands and helps it take dyes better. Now I'm confused. You know, that teal and daffodil would make a fabulous, summer sweater. No sleeves or cap sleeves. "When you swatch" 🤣🤣🤣 That's hilarious!

Well I might try to do a swatch but we know those things lie 🤣. I don’t think I’ve ever seen mercerized wool before that I know if. It really is softer and silkier fry then the other two wool sock yarns with the same properties I was holding. We learn daily do t we.

Oh, well, I'll fill you in on our weather report: Lake Effect snow is supposed to start this afternoon and continue throughout the day on Thurday and into Friday. We could get 2 feet. So, I will be staying in and getting lots done!

I cannot wait to see what you got Aberdeen wool Tangled poet advent day 11! I have never made knitted socks but I really think the soft yarn is beautiful! I think the socks you make for your children are amazing! I think when it's mercerized it's coded at least that's what it means when it's cotton does it mean the exact same thing when it's when it's mercerized wool ?

I never understood women whining about getting useful things for presents. And the women who think their husband should somehow know what they want and won't tell him. 🙄 Or they say "nothing" so he does. And they get mad. So silly. I tell my husband exactly which vacuum, mixer, bread machine, pans, dish sets, etc that I want and he gets it. I send him the links. I am happier getting things I need and use all the time but wont buy for myself cuz the expense... 😂 Plus he will always add a pack of Lindor chocolate truffles or Sees chocolates. I wish "modern" women would stop living like cliches. "All women are like this" "No woman wants..." Its ridiculous. If we say we want it we want it! 😂 Most of us, anyway. This year when hubby and kids asked whatI wanted for Christmas, I said "Yarn, yarn, and more yarn." Then I sent them links to specific yarns I want, though I will be totally happy with other yarns or not yarn. I added Sees chocolates to the short list, too. ❤ If they worry about will I make something for myself with it cuz they want to really personalise it, I tell them no. I want more yarn because its pretty and fun and I love getting it and playing with it and making things with it which I then give away, and that makes me super happy. :)

I get everything you said. Growing up mom and dad got useful things for each other for Christmas. If a vacuum was needed that was the useful thing. If it was something else around the house that was need they got that. I got those pink sponge roller curlers every year and was always thankful. Mom and I would put our hair in curlers a lot. Like mother, like daughter 😊. Hubby always knows yarn is an option. I didn’t say “I don’t think I need anything” because I was trying to set him up. We are blessed, we have our needs and I’ve been able to collect a lot of “wants” in my yarn over the years.

That's so fun about sharing the love of curls with your mom! Makes a gift mean more that way. I grew up getting socks and underwear for Christmas. One year I got a pillow. I had never had one. I cherished that pillow. I kept it for many years till it could not be mended anymore. When I was 17, I got a single rice krispie treat. I had expected nothing but that one gift from my sister-in-law made me cry I was so happy to get it. I had bought a $5 gift for each of my younder siblings, and that was their only present. So I guess my perspective on gifts is probably not the same as most peoples. 😂 Now we all have sufficient for our needs and some wants. I love giving gifts. It makes me so happy to see loved ones faces light up with happiness Just like you talking about your husband and how you love to make him smile. ❤
