Growing up as a kid in a small town from the south of India, i heard Junoon - songs like Sayonee, Dosti, Lal pat meri, Zamane ke andaz and I just fell in love with the music. My Hindi was pretty poor so obviously punjabi/urdu was beyond my realm of comprehension. But these songs crossed over so well, one can appreciate the emotion in every note, nuanced and passionate! something which has gone awry in the modern music scene. I remember finally buying the cassette of Azadi and playing it over and over again! Music knows no borders, probably we will never be united for reasons so. But the music is always a remainder of a shared past and we hope a future of respect and mutual understanding dawns on us. Much respect to Pakistani musicians like Junoon, Strings, Areib Azhar, Tina Sani from an Indian music fan! They truly have broadened my view of humanity and life!!

I am from India. I was such a huge fan of this band. I had their album "Azadi" on tape. I must have heard it a thousand times. All songs were good, all of them. Those days we had no MP3 or KZbin. Too bad they broke up.

Man such dorks. lol. I love this song. I saw it first in 88 or 89, a live performance on Pakistan TV, can't remember the exact date. I'm not sure if it was originally played by Junoon. As I remember Ali Azmat. played it with The Jupiters. Azmat was ripping it up on stage with Dosti. (As a metalhead/punk rocker one day I'm hoping to do a metal & a punk version, ONLY if its a really good version.) Anyhu, I still love it as much as I did the very first time & nothing is better than this version.

Actually ye song jab aya tha 1988 mey, us waqt Ali Azmat "Jupitars" me as a vocalist tha. Salman Ahmed Vital Signs mey to originally ye song Jupitars ka hua. Phir Ali, Salman n Brian ne mil k Junoon band bnaya. Jupitars ne Jawad Ahmed ko vocalist rakh lia. Jupitars ne bhi bht awla songs gaey. Phir Jupitars later on khatam ho gya aur Jawad Ahmed ne solo perform krna shuru kr dia. Junoon touched great heights. Ali sang this song again kionk he was the vocalist but officially to ye Jupitars ka song hi hua
