I forgot to mention that the M5 sets the ASA on the underside of the lens barrel from 25 to 500 ASA and there is a self timer on the side of the lens barrel.

Obviously the precursor to the MG-1, cool little cameras, especially in black. How I loved my Lynx 5000E back in the day!

Hi news 603. I've got my doubts about your theory. The MG1 used the same chassis as the main electro range. This is quite different. Also there is no "Pad of death" with the M5, it uses a entirely different system.
@news603redux2 жыл бұрын
@@howpow Fair enough, it just seems quite similar to me in appearance and purpose. My only negative on the MG-1 was how "plasticky" it felt, compared to other RF's of the day.

@@news603redux I've got a Lynx 5000 too, not the E model. It's a very nice camera.

@@howpow Yup. I always lusted after the Lynx 14E with the F/1.4 lens but could never afford it, lol.

It's an interesting little camera that's for sure. I should put a film through it one of these days. 🙂

Hi howard, nice videos Im javier from argentina, I have this one camera and the voogtlander perkeo III, you did a review of both, wich one do you recommend me if I had to stay with one..
@howpow Жыл бұрын
Hi Javier. That's an interesting question. They are very different cameras . The Voigtlander being a medium format camera is capable of higher quality photos but will cost quite a bit more to use. The Yashica M5 is an interesting camera but not really near the top on the Yashica range, but nevertheless takes pretty good photos. Try them both and see which you prefer.
@javiervilla4193 Жыл бұрын
@@howpow thanks howard for the answer, I'll try both have a beautiful design and I thought voigtlander is better without a reason.

I have zero knowledge about cameras and I have one of these m5 my dad gave it to me and I think it’s lenses are cracked but I’m not sure and that green light doesn’t work (I don’t know if it’s broken or not maybe it’s just a battery problem). Should I take this to some sort of service? Would this worth to spend money on?
@howpow5 ай бұрын
It's probably worth taking it to a good camera store and getting their opinion. They weren't a very desirable model so not worth spending much money on. Cheers, Howard

Howard, I have one question about this camera. How can I know it is good for use before buying film to put in it. Mine hasn't been touched in years so i want to know it is working before i invest any money in it.
@howpow2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ivan. You will need a 6 volt A544 battery or equivalent. With the battery in place see if the shutter appears to work correctly depending on the light. If it is you can probably risk a film. Cheers, Howard
