Glad I was able to help. This video has become one of my most viewed. This why I do KZbin to help people save money. So many things are not made to last these days but doesn't mean that you have to give up. Just fixed my old lawnmower that the valve seat popped out. Fixed it and runs great again. Check that video out and my other videos if interest you. Let your friends and family know too. Thanks Tim

I just want to say thanks to all the viewers. This video is getting allot of views lately which means folks are having the same issue with the dewalt springs breaking. They need to put in a stronger one for sure. Hey thanks also for subscribing to my channel. Just went over 500 subs. Cool and working on getting better with my videos

Thanks for the vid, a quick watch showed me how to disassemble the drill to get that new spring in. I repaired 2 drills in less than 10 minutes and my foreman thinks I'm a Rockstar.

If you feel generous please help me out by donating a small amount to paypal.me/yatabata It will be used to fix more equipment to share on KZbin. Thanks for watching and please share with friends and family too. Tim

Tim's video looked easy going and more my style than a video I had watched yesterday on the same issue. The other video was too technical and wordy. After fooling around on my driver with the info from the last video I had already tried to reassemble a few times. Thank you Tim for giving me one more practice try alongside you in your video, before we both got it right ⭐ thanks Tim

Thanks Avery, haven't heard that name in along time. I worked with an electrican in the late 70's with that first name. This video has got allot of views and comments. My only regret is using a gopro heatset instead of using my stabil tripod to record it. I quit using it after folks said it was making them sea sick. Thanks for watching and happy my video helped. I know I'm an old timer and my eyes aren't what they used to be. To make things worse I worked in lighting on TV for 15 years, (so let's be honest I'm almost blind). When you're showing me the part I need to replace....the answer to all of my problems......Have you got that Dam camera mounted on the ceiling, (in you neighbour's garage? Hahahahaha. Seriously I had the the close captioning on so I got the jist of it, but it sure looked like an interesting video to watch? Lol. Keep on doing the great work and thank you very much for the drill saving video!!

Thanks Jeremy, As I keep telling allot of folks who point this out, this was before I found a better way to do my videos. I use my tripod now and for really close up I use a hand clamp attached lower on my tripod. Making videos is a learning curve for sure. I'm glad you were able to figure it out

Cool, It's a bit frustrating as you saw on my video and you may want to keep your work area confined in case the ball drops on the floor. I was lucky and found it. As far as where the ball goes and spring watch my last attempt which was correct. I'll probably have to watch my own video if I have to do this again. Haha Anyway thanks for watching and if you would like to donate to my channel hit up my PayPal www.paypal.me/yatabata

Haha, Yep I was not pleased when the bit would fall out. I worked on a couple large impact drivers and saw how then worked to retain the drills and chisels. Although alot smaller same design concept

Thanks for watching. It's a bit tricky to put back together but a small screw flathead screwdriver helps.
@TrySkyLife4 ай бұрын
So I did this, followed instructions and it keeps doing it. I’m sure I didn’t do it wrong. Should I have to make any modifications to the springs?
@TimsWorkshopTJY4 ай бұрын
The spring only goes in one way. The curl on the end of the spring goes under the ball if I remember right? I tried a couple of times before I get it to work right. Still works great.

That top split ring I'm been trying for 30 mins to get back on. I'm done with it lol
@TimsWorkshopTJY2 жыл бұрын
use a socket that will just fit over the end and try that
@TimsWorkshopTJY2 жыл бұрын
there is another way too. a hole single punch that just fits over the end and since the end is tapered on the hole punch the ring will slide down onto where you want it.

I have all Ryobi tools. My impact driver has a stuck drill bit BUT... the holder is stuck DOWN so there is no give at all for split ring... especially with bit stuck in it. Any ideas for fix?
@TimsWorkshopTJY2 жыл бұрын
That is a interesting situation? It still should come apart. I'm not familiar with Ryobi tools but the locking should be the same. My guess is the spring broke and wedged the bit in. Try lubricant of some kind and heat from a propane torch. Try to get the split ring out first and if need be cut it out. The new repair kit comes with a new one ereplacementparts.com
@R__K2 жыл бұрын
@@TimsWorkshopTJY Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for next impact driver I get. Not only did thus lock up my impact driver but it had hole saw bit stuck in it. Sooo... hole saw adapter/all 5 hole saw sizes rendered useless along with the impact driver. Lesson learned: don't use hole saw bit in impact driver. 🤬🤦♂️

Like I said in the video the spring they use is weak. For a high impact hammer drills the springs should be made of high temper steel which are usually black in color in my opinion. I don't use mine everyday like a carpenter would. I'm sure they have gone through allot of cordless equipment like this.

Thanks for the info video but please lose your head cam , it makes me dizzy watching the video. Use a tripod instead.
@TimsWorkshopTJY2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting, this was brought up over and over since I made this video. It was soon after I quit using it and went like you say to my tripod. I'd like to do redo these videos but only if it breaks again. But I can't delete this video due to loosing all the views unfortunately. I wish KZbin would make an exception so creators can go in and update their old videos.
