This was a signature scent for Anwar al sadat an egyptian president back around ford presidency. Very complicated fragrant but a classic, it used to last long but i really dont know about newer formulations if it is still produced. Loved the kuros girlfriend reference. If you're repelled by prices for obtaining vintage Yatagan you can try Les Copains Homme (1990). It is very similar and of impeccable quality (Diana de Silva).

I adore Yatagan. I own both the modern version and a bottle from the late seventies, and they are quite similar under all aspects. This is one or the cases when the vintage is not worth paying crazy money to buy it.

I say the same thing about Dior Eau Sauvage. I have both a vintage bottle and a new bottle and I actually prefer the new formulation. It's very heavy in citruses which tend to fade more over time than other types of raw materials.

I have a vintage bottle from 1983, it is a castoreum bomb, the current version has dialed that down, the celery-like top note is more prominent but it ends up smelling quite animalic in the end as well.,

@@shave-a-thon3415 Yeah, but if you get from FragranceNet the bottle will probably be 3 or more years old, an example would be that they sent me a bottle of one million that is 6 years old but neutered it has no projection and lasts 4 hours LMFAO hell no. You get what you pay for, if you look on the bottle or box it usually says that it goes off around 36 months with a small engraving that reads (36M) - I'd rather pay $20 to $40 more to get a bottle from 2019 or 2020.

@@bluntlung420 A 6 year old bottle of One Million should be very strong because it's from 2014 or earlier and before the IFRA reformulations. If it's that weak, before opening you should 1) always first check the box (and flaps) for wear and tear, and the bottle and atomizer for scratches. 2) Then note the 1st spray and make sure it's not perfect. If you don't have to press once or twice for a full spray, the bottle has been used and repacked. 3) Note the seal of the cellophane and if possible check a box at Macy's to see if it's sealed the same way. Would you happen to have the batch code and the formula code on the box? It's either near the ingredients or is a Ref # on the bottom flap.

3rd man is a fragrance I just can’t explain. It has clove in it and it’s not sexy or mainstream, but I like it a lot. It’s one I think about a lot and wear about every couple of weeks. It’s a very mysterious fragrance for lack of a better description, it’s so unique, manly stuff. I plan to purchase another bottle soon. Great for the office since it sits close, it’s meant more for the wearer in my opinion than the audience. It’s one of a very few that I would call a masterpiece.

You’ve tried Yatagan along with Kouros and Polo Green..I would love a review on Givenchy Gentleman (1974) as it is a personal holy grail fragrance from that era. Great review on a very unique fragrance, Yatagan is sadly a mild performer.

For me this is a super masculine, rich confident dude's, uber bold dark smoky woody fragrance with 70's feeling but kind of timeless at the same time. I don't have the balls (and maybe age) to wear it in public, but at home ... oh yesss :)

Ike - what's the batch code of your bottle? That has everything to do it and determines whether you get an SRO performance! If you and Scents of South Jersey could compare formula codes on the box, that would be interesting, too. The formula code is usually near the ingredients or there's a "Ref." before the number.

It will cost me 95 euros directly from the Caron Paris. Price. I think longevity is not a main problem in here but projection and silage. The longevity is average, probably. 5-6 hours as the others...vintage fragrances. Probably projection and silage are very weak. Great review

I think you were fair. I purchased a decant and I really liked it but the lasting power leaves you wanting. I feel the opening is the best part of the fragrance, only wish that part lasted longer. But I have to agree with you that I would definitely take a 5hr scent vs a bomb that is so-so.

Been on the Yatagan train since 2008, brother. Once you're on it, there's no getting off. I also like wearing it in the summer, it has a mediterranean countryside type of feel to it. The only downside is that projection and longevity are mediocre.

This one (Yatagan) is so ballsy, even I almost can't handle it. Only outdoors and easy on the trigger. I got that Bowling Green (1986) it is really good so far, I like the spearmint and lemon verbena notes in it. If you like Taxi, and I know you do, you'd like Bowling Green. Only Jovan Musk has that much spearmint from my experiences. 🍃

I was curious about this one. Bought a half used bottle dead cheap. Upon smelling it reminded me of a Chinese medicinal herbal alcohol ointment I used for bruise injuries, that smell last longer and cheaper and also conjure up some familiar smell of 80s punks I walked pass as a kid. I think this is the fragrance they wore. Although unique smell among current genre of fragrances, for me it brings up some unpleasant memories, so it was quickly sold off.

Yatagan is a favorite of mine from House of Caron only second to Yuzu. Where Yuzu is fresh, Yatagan is not. It has a dark wood feel, what it smells like to me is Incense (from Church as a kid) It is good but I don't think a lot of younger men would like it, its more for people into classic scents and wear it in cool weather or a night scent.

@@kuldeepsingh-ce3su Fragrances are all about the batch and formula codes. I've been buying for nearly 50 years. Many go into dept. stores and buy an expensive fragrance today after testing it and don't even realize the notes change, nor understand if it's not strong, they'll have to bring their arm or shirt to their nose to smell it after an hour.

I do not understand what you mean by performance regarding fragrance. One wears a fragrance that they like. I have used Yatagan since it first came out and find it to be Caron's wood-based waters to resemble cedar or oil-of-cedar. Yatagan wears strong, not made for every one, and is an acquired taste to most, which lingers, as many fragrances do, leaving me wondering about your concept of performance, which in many respects, exposes your inexperience.

It’s a simple concept Matthew lol I wear it and when I no longer notice the scent I then make note of the amount of time I felt it lasted on me personally. It’s a KZbin review that I made about a cologne. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I think this smells amazing but the performance sucks ass. I think its worth its $50 price tag but beyond that, don't pay anything more for it. It doesn't last at all. Total skin fragrance, if that's what you're into
