For Yazik and my fellow non malay speaker this is the lyric translation Full moon light up my sorrows Let my fiercely anxious soul fly Shining sky keep the star in your heart Let it light up and burn your heart Whistling wind Breathlessly whistling Blow the wound away Cold piercing through the heart [Corus] Embrace me oh universe Said that love give you freedom Stay near to me ether space Warmth my body through the imaginary world Sunshine light up my darkest soul Let it melt my tormented body and soul [Scream] You all cant even, Cant even break this wall Hold my hand We united fight the world [Corus] Embrace me oh universe Said that love give you freedom Stay near to me ether space Warmth my body through the imaginary world [Scream] Two soul and two world Together expecting for happiness Did you know that love is a sin? Embrace me oh universe Said that love give you freedom Said that love, Said that love, Stay close to me ether space Warmth my body through the imaginary world. P/S :- This lyrics are not straight up translated to English, but the meaning I can sure are 100% accurate. I cant explain about the song so I would love you to read the translated lyrics and interpret the song by yourself because that’s how we enjoy music 😉

Wow well done. I'm impressed, you have a very good command of English. Even in translation, dah jadi macam poem. I also like that you also used the term embrace, in addition to hug. Embrace lebih puitis kalau di-banding dengan hug. Saya rasa awak ni ada darah seni. You must have spent quite sometime choosing the right words rather than just giving a literal translation which would not convey/do justice to the poetic lyrics.

This song has very strong lyrics. It's a mixture of various genre (traditional touch/rock/metal etc) and well-blended. I'm very confused at first listen but upon checking on the lyrics, it got me struck in awe. It is indeed unique as you can hardly find the similar lyrics/words in many other typical Malaysian songs. I particularly like the chorus where the lyrics says "pangkulah aku, wahai semesta" or roughly means "uphold me, dear universe". Truly well-deserved. Congratulations to Shila and SOG! 9:20 fyi, Shila really loves rock genre, but people love to hear she sings ballad. She said it herself😂

Pelukan (Hug) Angkasa (Outer Space) is OST for a film 'KL Vampire' ( story about Malaysian Vampire who came from malay ancient time through the modern KL city life). The song is about forbidden love between two worlds (human & evils). The 'Malay World Music' concept mix with heavy metal make its very unique & rich variety of our Malaysian music industry. The flutes that used at the beginning is one of malay/asia traditional flute. The hand movements is one of the traditional ancient malay/asia dance, pray or worship to the god/king. Heavy Metal are not the usual genre in Malaysia but there is a lot of listeners who supports that kind of music. AJL got their own prestige also their own politics. You can look at the fishy 'award granted' to the unpredictable singer/song because of some fishy reasons that we as netizen can easily see who neither supposedly win the awards nor whom unexpected awarded. Yes, fan can only love the singer but in AJL, Song & Composer focused the most.

Indeed.. This is history for Malaysian music when a metal band won the competition.. Most of Malaysian was not listening to underground music.. This is combination between traditional and metal music genre.. The lyric too deep to understand because its related with to many things..

Well, I could say most of AJL fans didn't dispute the winning of SOG x Shila although we have & were rooting for our favourite singers & songs such as Aina Abdul (Sepi), Hael, Haqiem & Naim (Lara), Marsha (Cinta) & others. I personally agree that SOG X Shila deserved it. Frankly, the first time I hear this song was during the semi final. It's not a common song that we hear everyday on medias.. Just FYI, SOG in full is Sekumpulan Orang Gila. In English it means A Bunch of Crazy People. Pelukan Angkasa means Hugs From the Space whereas the lyrics are so poetic, it's quite hard to render it into describable words.

This song (lyrics) is super poetic that each line either contains personification, simile, metaphor or hyperbole. ‘Pelukan’ literally means hug while ‘angkasa’ is galaxy. If blindly interpret the lyrics, this song sounds like a human begging to nature & galaxy elements to embrace & comfort his soul & love.

At 2.00, the musical instrument is a flute known as 'seruling' in Malay usually made of bamboo but I am not sure whether this particular one is made of bamboo. I am not much of a rock music fan but this particular song 'Pelukan Angkasa' is rock music with a difference especially in the context of Malaysian music with the blending of old & new especially in the use of musical instruments. This appears to be the trend in Malaysian music lately, the blending of old & new I suppose as a way of acknowledging one's heritage and appreciating the beat of the new all at the same time.

Hi Yazik! A fan of your channel, here. Since you're wanting to know what the song is about, Shila Amzah (in her IG) did put up a post saying the song is about two star-crossed lovers of different kinds and from different worlds who are not supposed to be fallen in love with one another (this song was first released as a soundtrack for a fantasy movie about vampires living in human world). I would like to offer my translation here just in case if you or anyone in here would like to have a read. The lyrics is quite poetic (literary even, to some point), which is quite rare in the Malaysian music scene these days because it is fueled by mainstream songs written with simpler word choices to go with more modern sonic soundscape that seems to be more appealing to the current audience. It is poetic because it is written by a person who is actually a well known writer/poet or should I say, who writes literary work (at least in the underground literary scene, to my understanding. Do correct me if I'm wrong. I've been a fan of her and found her on IG and love all her captions because they're poetic and nuanced). And I tried my very best to translate this song in English in the most literary way possible as well in hopes that I could capture the poetic essence of the words. The words and phrases that I choose here are for reasons and they may not appear entirely parallel linguistically to the Malay counterparts. I chose to not translate them verbatim and went for the best words or phrases to go with them to reflect the essence of their meanings. I'm so sorry for that as well. Hopefully these words would give a little bit more sense to what the words in Malay are about. Again, I tried my very best and this may not be perfectly sound. Read this for your enjoyment and to get a gist of what the song talks about. Thank you very much, guys!. (Male Verse) Full moon Illuminate this rancorous longing of mine Soaring the raging disquiet Of a shackled soul Sky, pitch dark Weave a star into your canvas May it burn Like bonfire setting the heart ablaze Whistling wind Like an exhale Blustering against the wound Piercing cold Lances through the void (Chorus) Hold me, universe Say that love is liberating Embrace me, cosmos Warm my frame in the kingdom of figment (Female Verse) Scorching sun Enkindle the sagacity of my darkened soul Absolving radiation Bearing this harrowed mind of mine towards ruin (Screamo) You’ll never be able To shatter this fortress (Male & Female) Grasp my hand United will we be Against the world (Chorus) Hold me, universe Say that love is liberating Embrace me, cosmos Warm my frame in the kingdom of figment (Male, Female & Screamo) Two souls, two worlds Yearning to taste tranquil bliss Are you heedful Of what a sin love is? (Male Verse) Hold me, universe Say that love is liberating (Last Chorus) Hold me, universe Say that love is …. Say that love is …. Embrace me, cosmos Warm my frame in the kingdom of figment

I also predict Sepi would win as I heard that the judge(leader) already been replaced by someone else this year and Sepi was super popular plus have great lyrics. So, this song winning was quite a suprised. However, I was not disappointed by the results as the performance deserved it, plus all my favorite singers won something that night. Check out Marsha performance as she won 2nd place and best performance of that night.
