long time viewer here. i think one of the main reasons yba feels so different today than it does back then is simply because of how much larger it's become. it used have very simple graphics, easy to grasp mechanics, and a very nice feeling combat system. these days, that's all gone now. not to mention that with how convoluted and overpowered things are these days, it's even more of a hell for new players than it was prior. in all honesty, the game is still enjoyed by tens of thousands of people daily. but it's just that for myself, and many others, we aren't those people. and we aren't going to be. regardless, i hope uzu and the team still does well, as i can't deny the game is stunning visually and all. i just hope sometime that same spark it had before can be reignited. keep up the good work, big man.

i think another reason is how complicated the game is now, like a spec has the same amount of moves as a stand meaning u have to spend ages memorising every key on your keyboard just to be able to play 1v1's against sweaty players. at this rate specs are more so secondary stands having a barrage and all

I literally started to smile and cry with emotion watching the flashbacks at 18:18 I used to play since 4 months after release like Eclipse and fell off after Crazy Diamond's rework update, I felt the game wasn't the same, it was good and all but... me and my friends wasn't enjoying playing as much as we did before, and we didn't know why at the time. Thanks for being my favorite youtuber since 2021, Eclipse. I met you through YBA, stayed for you. I like to see this video as a letter to YBA and it's community as a whole, seeing the good, the bad and the ugly from 3 years of YBA. I enjoyed watching your videos in the morning before playing with my friends at night, and now I enjoy watching your videos besides don't playing the game for months, and see what the fuck are the devs doing with those new stands and reworks. Thank you Eclipse, I see you next time.

I also started playing almost three years ago, and I agree with most of what you said. However, I feel like skins themselves aren't really that detrimental to the game on paper, but in reality, people have gotten WAYYY too addicted to them. It's to the point that a majority of people don't even want to improve on their combat skills. It was way easier to find a competent opponent to play a fun 1v1 back then but nowadays hardly anyone is remotely decent at the game. I've already quit YBA for a few months, but some of my friends still play it and they can back me up on my claims. Another thing I don't agree about is the map change. Sure, I think that the map was a lot better than the old one. The main issue is though, it is a LOT laggier than the old one. For comparison, with the fps unlocker, I could manage to get 120+ fps on the old map in a vip server. Nowadays, I can barely manage 40. This may not be as big of a problem on other platforms, but we're talking about Roblox here. Most of the people playing aren't very old and are usually playing on low end laptops and phones or tablets. I know that the developers have put efforts into making it not such a laggy mess, but it just isn't enough. I agree with everything else though, and it's sad to see that the only aspects that made YBA stand above other games (mainly the combat) have just been ruined with 50% hp combos. It was rare to see a skin back then, and now it's become the norm. How good the balancing is right now is still quite similar to what it was back then (horrible of course), but I would argue it still feels worse right now. The combat used to be void of massive combos, which is what made it stand out in the first place, but now the new reworks are just riddled with huge true combos. I feel like it's just sad to see the original main attraction of the game being completely destroyed.

YBA... has changed. It's no longer about balanced movesets, free flow combat, or having fun. It's an endless series of gang wars fought by sweats and one-shot combo users. YBA - and it's production of skins - has become a well-oiled machine. YBA has changed. ID-tagged players carry ID-tagged stands, use ID-tagged specs. Hamon infusion inside their bodies enhances and regulates their damage output. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. YBA has changed. The age of Balance has become the age of Skins... All in the name of averting catastrophe from revenue drops. And he who controls the skins... Controls the players. YBA has changed. When the players are under total control... Unbalanced reworks become routine.

Having started at around the same date, the feeling of the game is definitely a lot different. That sort of jank was a real charming part of the game and despite the overall balance still being terrible even then, it almost felt more excusable in some ways. The game isn't unplayable for me or anything now -- I can still enjoy playing with some of the new stuff, but there's just a much different feeling in my gut when I hear a stand or rework is released today as compared to all that time ago. It felt a lot more, I donno, special for sure.

I feel like a way of balancing out the new reworks is increasing to maximum vitality rather than changing the damage of stands. If this is the route Uzukee is going to take with YBA from here on out, at least let us be able to survive the long combos
@tedtubegaming

yeah increasing max vitality to 500 would 1. make vitality upgrades worth more health per 2. increase the "touch to kill" from just barely not one to a much more forgiving 4 *without* cutting back on the ridiculously long, dramatic combos that Uzu seems to be pushing for

I know I'm 4 months late to commenting on this video, but I remember a time when rokakaka would reset all your characters progress, meaning the only way to get new stands was pures or you restarted the story line and went back to level 1. my friend found this game one night at like 12am or something, and we both agreed the combat looked really fun, it's actually what drew us into playing yba. when we joined you could double barrage with hamon and stands making it the most busted thing in the game, and as time went on we loved playing the game. I was never good at the game but I still enjoyed losing because the combat was fun and the only thing I could blame was myself for being bad, and also my macbook air from 2015. While I'm not the biggest fan of current YBA, I never really was a big fan of the game. I'd have fun playing. but my list of games I play outside roblox is Devil may cry and DBFZ, so having combos that look cool and flashy now never really makes me think about how unbalanced it is. if I go to play a roblox game I'm playing it to have the most turn your brain off fun I can have. anything that happened to the game wouldn't affect me so much because I never went too deep into the rabbit hole of YBA's balance and stuff because I'd turn my brain off, I kinda skirted on the outside occasionally dipping in to see what's new or what's happening and then I'd leave again. Even as I write this I'm in the middle of trying to skin farm for golden frieza red hot chilli pepper, because I am a dragon ball fan. and once i've got that, I probably won't log back on and do something else instead. While it's sad to see how far the games fallen, it just doesn't hit me as hard compared to others.

The time I started playing YBA (keep in mind I've stopped playing now) was I believe nearly right next to initial release. I wasn't the FIRST to play it in any regard, but I do remember being there before SBR, Requiems, or Prestiges were even added. Rokakakas actually used to reset your level and you'd need to find a pure rokakaka which only reset your stand if you wanted to keep it. I watched YBA turn from a cool passion project that was original and enjoyable despite it's lackluster (at least, compared to the modern day) stands because, well, it was a passion project based on one of my favorite things to a corporate hellhole where all Uzu and the dev team seem to care about is money. The more popular YBA got, the more greedy the devs became until everything just... sucked. We have a game today that is devoid of all substance; what made it fun is long gone. No more new mechanics, no more new gamemodes, hell, we haven't even gotten a requiem past SPTW and Uzu promised that EVERY stand would have a requiem. I'm not saying old and simple is always good, but I think I'd prefer if all stands dropped their *visual* quality in favor of a backtrack to the fun and nostalgic feeling as well as FINALLY a decent update schedule. Also, why the hell does the storyline give you a requiem arrow?! What??? I remember working my butt off every single day in SBR and FINALLY after LITERAL DAYS beating SBR ONCE. In the past, SBR used to give you access to the requiem arrow; it was this whole quest thing with a lengthy but really rewarding process. You'd talk to the prestige master at prestige 3 in SBR, he'd give you a quest to simply beat SBR, you do so, and you get the ability to craft a requiem arrow at a different NPC for a hefty sum of money. I PREFERRED THAT SO MUCH. That last SBR game that gave me access to requiem was INSANE. Like seriously! The only requiem that was out was Gold Experience's (which at the time looked AWESOME compared to all the other stands) so I had Gold Experience and I would try for I think a whole MONTH to beat SBR. And that feeling when I got requiem was so amazing, it felt like I was a cut above the rest for all the hellish work I put in, that I actually accomplished something of worth. Aaaaaand of course they decide to make the end of the storyline give you requiem. What once was a super rewarding experience after beating SBR is now replaced with +1 pelvis and no other rewards except maybe money (I got Tusk Act 4 by literally inputting a code...) So yeah, sorry for ranting but basically what I mean is, YBA has lost all of it's original charm for me. It used to be a fun passion project, and now I can't really find any reason to play it anymore. It's a broken mess of terrible balancing and none of my friends want anything to do with it (hey, I see why). YBA just doesn't even feel like the same game anymore. And yes, drawing in children for hours on end just for them to get a slight remodel of a stand that they apparently really want IS scummy and it always has been. I've really always hated the idea of skins for that reason but obviously I won't rag on others for having them, in the end you're not FORCED to get skins since it's your choice if you want to grind for them. In summary, a lot of aspects may have improved a LOT, but it's never worth losing all of the original charm. I miss and will always miss the old YBA.

Even though the current YBA is 'fine' it does not feel nowhere near as fun or 'balanced' as it used to be. Old YBA was not balanced at all but nor is the new YBA. I feel as if somewhere in the midway of its lifespan was it the most 'fair' but even when broken as hell, it was still so fun. Eclipse, if you are reading this, you are incredibly enjoyable to watch no matter what content you make. Thank you for being such a fun and relatable youtuber... another long time viewer here, where to start. I started yba a month or so after launch, but didn’t really continue to play and actually grind out to prestige 3 around the heaven update. This was around the time your channel had blown up and i remember watching the kc hamon review and seeing you easily take over yba YT as a whole. Besides having legitimately creative youtube ideas for such a niche genre, you were also pretty steadfast in making content you enjoyed which was again also super rare on YT as well as something as random as a jojo roblox game youtuber. I can’t even imagine how much hours i put into the game and can really empathize with your feelings of passion. Despite the absolute mountain of bs rampant throughout the game just the amount of freshness using a new stand combo from a youtube video or carrying a friend in sbr kept me satisfied. I never really engaged in the community much mostly out of a lack of knowledge on discord activity and what not but when I did I had a lot of fun. I participated in that first tournament (diamondmaster3600/mlgtricks) and placed second, which friends in yba talked abt so much at the time. it was just a really cool experience and in a way your channel has been that timelog every step of the way. As of rn i haven’t really played yba consistently since the halloween update, but i pop into your channel almost all the time just to hear your insight on topics and it reminds me of that golden period of yba. cheers

Clearly thinking its the best game on roblox. Now only I came back to this game in june and alot has changed. The game didn’t really felt like before. I didnt start playing this game very early, it was around the heaven update, my friends told me about this cool jojo game, and we proceeded to waste hours of our lives playing this and having fun

I've played YBA since around January 2020, right before Cream was added into the game. Back when rokas reset everything and pure rokas functioned like the rokas we know today. To see how far the game's come has been insane. I remember when Hierophant's Green was first added and I trolled some guys using the range pilot function. This is really cliche but it was so much simpler back then. First steel ball run, got annihilated by hackers, still was pretty fun to see all these people who don't know what to expect just trying to survive the race. A lot of the footage and screenshots were left behind on my old PC (which was in Ukraine, and then you know how it goes) so I don't have access to most pictures from back then, at least for now. I don't think there'll be anything quite like YBA ever again. It was just so special (and still is) to me and many other people, nothing can replicate that feeling.

been here and done that, since day one. i miss the days when I was blissfully unaware, and just used random ass moves. it was fun. no m1’s, and just being a silly ass in main game. (edit: maybe not day one, but it was very early in the games life, like maybe a month after it released.) (final edit: holy shit eclipse, that final edit hit way harder than it should have.)

I joined YBA on December 12th, 2020. Needless to say, it was different from all jojo games during that time. All the jojo games were trash lol. But the unique thing YBA had was the storyline. Jojo games would try to have a story line, but the game would either give you nothing to work with, have dumb quests, or just straight up make you not want to do it. But YBA’s worked. I loved grindy and fun games, so my naive self struck gold. I came across your channel when it had a few hundred subs I believe, and I woke up the next morning and you BLEW UP. I believe it started with the sub specials and stand review series. I genuinely feel like YBA would be more fun if there was a global stand damage nerf, where the fights would at least last another 5 seconds. But whatever.

I miss the times when I would just hop on YBA with my friends and have constant fun. We would always be hyped on the new update or a new Eclipse YBA video, sadly all those feelings that I felt then are gone and it turned into some kind of chore to even play YBA for over 10 minutes. I'm glad that i got to make all those memories, but it's sad to see such a great game get so boring. It just feels like all uzu cares about is the profit going up.

I can't say that I didn't expect this. I've been watching your content for quite some time, and I have a basic understanding of why you loved YBA in its previous state. I have fond memories of watching you play in late 2020, and seeing the fun you wer having, so it suck seeing you depart from the game. But as a new gen player, the shift isn't entirely a bad thing, just something older players can't follow. Old YBA heavily relied upon its neutral game thanks to its simplistic nature. But if the shift is balaced correctly, we could have a system focused around unique combos and Stand interaction, as well as a servicable neutral game.Thats IF its balaced correctly, but I digress. While I may be excited to see how the game evolves, the more we step towards that vision, the more players like you we lose. And now there's no going back. Even though there aren't that many reworked Stands at the moment, the spec reworks were the point of no return. In my opinion, old YBA is gone, and while I may be excited to see where it goes, we as a community will lose a lot in the process. So, Eclipse, thank you, for all of the awesome content you've made for this game, and I wish you luck in you're unfortunate (but completely expexted) descision. Getting off of my serious soap-box now, the other big reason this sucks is most YBA content creators are complete ass, so- uh- YBA youtube is now on packwatch. Its genuinely joever. We've gone from Build-or-Bust to some 15y/o with text to speech acting like he's a god at the game for being spec carried. Then again im 18 and shit at the game anyways so maybe Im jealous.

I remember getting on YBA back in like 2020 and being scared to prestige as to lose my 35 levels, I remember chuckling at the bruh sfx if you died, being astonished at mista just shooting you if you choose the wrong dialogue option, and I remember most of the stupid op nonsence which me and my friends would use to terrorize every server. Just two years later though, and we’ve all moved on to other things. Now looking at it’s current state, the game is becoming less and less silly and more and more streamlined. The tense neutral game which defined it, now replaced by button mashing. My friends now play deepwoken, which I could never get into. I liked the low stakes combat that you’d get in 1v1s or maingame. Where your progression wasn’t on the line every battle, but your ego. I can’t help but feel nostagic for the “bruh” sound, or for all of the older stands. The old YBA is dead, and what is left of it will soon rot away and be replaced with another rework. This Ship of Theseus has already sunk for me, and I won’t really want to go down with this ship.

I miss the days where I could play this game for hours on end, be in a gang that had on average 20 people, get chased down by a server full of comp gangs, raiding private servers, be on leaderboard for months without finding a reason to stop, everything changed after the crazy diamond rework, and after we beat our final enemies i quit and gave my gang to someone else. this game went from the thing that kept me going through quarantine to whatever it is now, and nobody i know (including myself) have plans on coming back. Goodbye, YBA.

The simple graphics to me not getting a hang of the unique mechanics, it's hard to find a good game that's fair and balanced, let alone good. one thing i feel of how skins make the game slightly worse than if what im talking about wasnt there is the fact that if you have a non upgraded stand (ge normal star platinum whitesnake etc) with a skin if you upgrade it you keep the skin which may seem good but then if for example you see a whitensake skin you have no clue if thats whitesnake c-moon or made in heaven

I started playing about 2 or 3 months before the pluck rework and man was it fun. I didn’t play much but I had a blast playing and trying to copy what Eclipse did in his latest video. I still love yba but now it feels like I can only play when tryharding, I remember when we would all meet by the arcade and 1v1 each other. Now it’s hard to find a server without someone getting 2v1. I just miss the old combat. I still remember the first time I entered the 1v1 game mode. Sptw vs twoh I got the shit beat out of me but it gave me something to achieve, get twoh without trading. But when I started actually trying to get twoh tusk happened so I got GER and hoped for the best in 1v1s I got to 9 wins before trading for twoh. I still haven’t gotten twoh without trading. I just don’t care to fight sm cd sc s&w:gb and every other stand with a op combo.

Sure everything is new and flashy and will forever entertain the 9 year olds, but the veterans who played in its early days, well they are moving on now, and soon I will myself. YBA is doing ight, and won't go anywhere anytime soon, but still, I wish we could go back to the simple times where it was more like a game then a skin simulator

Am I wrong to enjoy this game, even with all the mess that happened ? I mean I don't know how people feel nostalgic about the old yba, or how they liked the old mecanics, there was sometimes that I complained about some bugs or some unbalanced mecanics on the pvp. But above all of that I think I still enjoy it and I don't get it why people like eclipse or some old players doesn't like this game anymore. Am I missing something, is there something wrong that I haven't noticed ? After watching this video I kinda understand how it feels for an old player to experience all thoses changes. Sadly I don't have that feeling since I joined the game recently around in june 2021, and the stone free update happened around july or august. And I have been playing this game for like 2 years already (of course I don't play it every day I have a life after all). The scary monsters reworked made me hype but as soon as I realize how unbalanced it is. I mean sure u can still defeat it if you know it's mechanics, as well for vampire. But yet, you don't need to use your brain to understand how you should fight. This is why Instead of spamming the special attacks on my keyboard, I try to play fairly by using my mouse as a main source of damage (only if the enemy doesn't run). I'm glad to see how the game evolves in terms of visuals and mecanics, but It doesn't mean it's all perfect. All what I do is that I enjoy the game as much as I can, even with all the future updates that will change the game.

Damn... Watching this video really reminds me of the past i first joined in 2020 I remember first i joined my friend's game saying what is this? And my friend was in sbr so i was left alone playing wondering didnt know what i was doing or what jojos is? And then my first impression was to go to the wiki and i read about all the stands and saw kcr and immediately gave myself a goal of getting it and then i leveled up and got it but i did not know how to play or even where the npc was so i looked apond KZbin i remember searching for (yba tutorial) and there i found eclipse i became a really big fan of him and startes watching every video and even listening to his video in the background as i play yba while loving kcr i was curious about exploring different stands so after hearing eclipse saying how broken c-moon was i was tempted to try it so i grind and grinded so hard that i didnt even sleep until the day i got white snake i was so happy as arrows and rokas were very rare and was not tradable i found myself reading the wiki for 30 mins reading every single move but then i still didnt fully understand how it works so i turned my head to eclipse as i could always trust him he explained the stand for my tense mind and i understanded easily so thankd eclipse for making my life easier as i would have given up on the game and never found out how amazing it was Skipping a few months my brother started playing and i was very excited i teached him the ropes as eclipse did and we started playing yba every day after school i didn't even do my homework 😂 i know its bad but it was a huge part in my life and i am a better kid in year 9 because of playing yba and i spend time chatting in yba so my grammar became better and the year i spent with my brother we bounded though this game but as time passes we quit the game after the big update the map change as we felt that the game wasnt as fun as it was Now as i watch this video i remember the times i spend on the game and with my brother my brother and i haven't talked as we have a different age gap but i still remember the fun times i spent with him i love my brother but we dont get along well now I miss the old days ;) but i still watch Eclipse's videos~~~

game just doesn't feel the same without the old map, not to mention the main reason found the game fun was because of how simple the fundamentals are and while the vfx look stunning, for the competitve players/players trying to pick the game back up it's hellish because it's so hard to see literally anything. Also, combos are really unfun to play against and the game just doesnt have the same vibe to it anymore
