I am 68 yo and used to play Trumpet by ear when I was young. I decided to buy a Trumpet at my age and I am learning to read music. Found this excellent musician today, and I love the way he teaches. Smooth way, I thank God for people like him. I pray that the Lord will keep you healthy. Thank you a million, I have learned a lot with you. I subscribed to your channel in KZbin.

Was learning more about Clark Terry, one the the trumpeters I always tend to overlook. I learned that Miles Davis during his drug years was wasted living on the street and had no money. Clark who was his long time mentor had brought him a restaurant, fed him and brought him to his own apartment and left him there to rest. Clark had to leave for a moment but when he came back Miles Davis was gone and Clark's horns, clothing and radio was also gone. He was angry first but eventually forgave Miles. What a humble soul and what a great friend CT was even when he was back stabbed!

Not only that but Miles' mother called him up that day and gave him a cussing for being a bad influence on her son. CT told me that himself.

I’ve been a full time professional player since 1989 and I still am amazed at how Clark Terry explained ANYTHING even cleaning out your horn! I was so fortunate to see him play live when I was in High School.

This is the most amazing KZbin video I've ever seen! I'm not aware of any other musical LEGEND who's given a video course covering the very beginning basics of musicianship! I wish every beginner had a teacher this good right from the start! His down-to-Earth lack of ego and generous spirit is so beautiful it's touching! I'd love to see a guitar version of this and a piano version as well. But I think this is sort of unique!

A thumbs down on Clark Terry says you are one lost soul! Sorry about you. He was cool enough for Miles Davis to be inspired by and to seek out lessons from. I have to remember that some people just don't have "the ears to hear". This is excellent, take my word for it.

Clark and I played together in 1969 or 70? One of those years. We Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonians at APSU held our Annual Jazz Festival and Clark was our guest Artist courtesy of Johnny Carson who was so cool to let us have him for ten days during our festival event.

Why is it sharp when you go up the scale & flat when you go down?
@barryhunt8527
@barryhunt8527 4 жыл бұрын
Juniperus communis it’s called the language of music. It preserves the correct order of things. Going up you raise going down you lower. Best seen on a piano or keyboard. Learn the chromatic scale you’ll see your answer in that 🤔👍
