In this video, we explore the value of cross-functional teams in modern organizations. Cross-functional teams equipped with all necessary skills to deliver a product increment without dependencies enable faster market delivery and heightened innovation, which are essential for competitive success. We discuss how bureaucracies within organizations, even small ones, can impede progress and efficiency and how cross-functional teams can mitigate these barriers, promoting smoother operations and quicker market responses. It is highlighted to highlight the importance of regularly inspecting and adapting team compositions to ensure they have the necessary skills to meet evolving project demands. We also delve into the ongoing challenge of maintaining the right mix of skills within a team and the need for continuous evaluation and potential reconfiguration of team roles. Cross-functional teams seem to be a pipe dream..albeit it's talked about as a goal In my large organization to target. As a scrum master I find the struggle is real when trying to influence the hearts and minds of leaders bogged down in old ways of funding outsourced knowledge workers and hierarchically disparate team members who aren't members of teams focused on iteratively and incrementally delivering value due to the focus and measure of success for each unique hierarchies reporting structures measure of success!
