Ryan and Todd discuss the uncertain and complex nature of recent layoffs, particularly in the tech industry, attributing them to various global events. Emphasizing a pragmatic approach to employment, they advise viewing the employer-employee relationship as a transactional exchange of time and talent for compensation. Todd and Ryan underscored the importance of continuous personal and professional development through various means like reading, networking, and utilizing online resources. Drawing from personal experiences, they highlight the resilience of skill enhancement, especially during layoffs. They conclude with a call to focus on what one can control, advocating for a realistic and informed approach to career planning and economic changes while maintaining a cautiously optimistic outlook.

100% agreed, it's great if your manager is your no1 advocate, but you should be in charge of your life and your professional career

Organizations which failed Agile stop pretending they are Agile. It doesn't mean Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches failed. Organizations may start realising they need to do more than just employee SMs and ACs and change the naming convention of meetings and work items. Not all companies fail Agile and We will see it in the near future.

I don’t think the lay offs are just Agile people…linked in is rife with people looking for work across many different skillsets. But certainly feels like Agile folks are the first to be targeted for cuts in many instances….rough times but the market seems to be picking up a little

The guy is totally insensive to the situation. the layoffs are more than difficult, they destroy lives and people have to rebuild themselves.

Yes, rebuild themselves. I did that a half a dozen times. As in anything, you get better in that, too. And yes, it's hard, and does not get much less hard (if not it gets more and more familiar). - I think they are rather sensitive.
