FAQs
Q1) How can I play this game?
A1) This is an old Cartoon Network game which was released for Windows 95 (I think). It can’t be played using the current Windows version, so I used VirtualBox (version 6.0 here) to emulate the older Windows version to run the game. As expected, the ever popular and almighty Windows XP proved to work better for this game, thus it was chosen.
Can’t demonstrate every step in a separate video here cos:
a. I don’t want to and don’t remember how…
b. I have no idea/am terrible at recording anything else other than gameplay…
That being said, below is just a rough guide on how to prepare the setup for playing this game:
1) Download VirtualBox at www.virtualbox...
2) Download the image (ISO) file for Windows XP (I used 32-bit version which is almost 600 MB iirc, can’t remember whether I got it from archive.org or elsewhere, just Google it).
3) Follow those KZbin videos about how to add Windows XP to VirtualBox (I don’t remember the steps I followed when I installed it a few years ago).
4) Download the specific game file from archive.org since it usually has these old games e.g. the exe file for “Cow and Chicken in Bombs Away” can be found at archive.org/de...
5) I recall VirtualBox has a function that allows you to transfer files from the Windows version you are currently using (“host”) to the emulated one (“guest”) but for some reason, I haven’t been able to do so. You can probably Google this too…
As I have an external CD/DVD Writer, I burned these files into a RW CD-Rom, then launched the game in the emulated Windows XP. I did a bit of trial and error before figuring out how to configure the CD/DVD Writer to enable its usage in the emulated Windows XP.
6) If you are able to do step 5 without having to get an external CD/DVD writer, you should be good to go! Launch Windows XP in VirtualBox and launch the game .exe file and it should run nicely.
Q2) Hey, this game you are playing isn’t from the Cartoon Network websites!
A2) Though some games came from other websites (e.g. some Scooby-Doo games originated from Warner Bros website) or were originally released in a different medium (e.g. CD-roms), the cartoon characters in these games have appeared in Cartoon Network before, and are therefore included. I decide on a case-by-case basis though.
Q3) Can you do a playthrough of [game name] ?
A3) No promises, as this channel is just a little project of mine to do playthroughs of old CN games. This is for nostalgia, plus I noticed that some playthroughs are either incomplete or do not exist at all. Pls don’t expect me to fulfill any/all of your requests as this is purely a hobby. If I have time, I might try them. As for newer games e.g. from Ben 10 Omniverse, Teen Titans Go! etc., I don’t think I will tackle them anytime soon since there are other old games that I haven’t done yet.
