If you look at this short film through the lens of each character actually being one, two aspects of a person like a childhood self/past self/system or even just the passive memory and emotions of a person and their current/"present" self the film really opens up a profound window into our relationships to ourselves Even the way White goes the long, unexpected way around to surprise Black after being dismissed once offers a neat parallel to memory/emotions or even trauma. White is even that much more catastrophic for Black, shaking the ground and passively wanting acknowledgement. Facing/acknowledging yourself is really important, trying to create things when you arent "balanced" results in burnout and heartache that you often can't understand until it tears down everything and demands your full attention...
