just imagine how alexander bell felt after 2000 failures, finally saw the light at the other end of the tunnel. it wasn't about the electricity, it about replacing whale oil with just the right amount of tuns filament , gas and vacuum inside the glass enclosure.

Your videos are always so interesting. They really inspire me to make these kinds of contraptions and experiment. As a way to pay this back, here's a little trick that you don't know about. When you have to empty a bottle full of water/liquid quickly, give it a nice swirl just before pouring. This way you create a vortex or whirlpool inside the bottle that lets air rush in at the same time that water comes out. Hope you at least find that interesting!

Here's a challenge. Make a continuously running fountain using just one whole bottle and one large catchment tray, and connecting hoses, pipes, and sealing bungs, using only Gravitational Potential Energy to power the fountain. the tubes don't need to be the same diameter, and the majority of the water should be in the catchment tray.

this will work until only first container water finishes .. how it will be continious fountain
@timhallas4275
@timhallas4275 5 жыл бұрын
It isn't continuous. It stops when the bottle is empty.
@seanregehr4921
@seanregehr4921 5 жыл бұрын
It is continuous in the sense it continuously flows without any external forces. Place it outdoors and it will operate will almost no human effort as rain will refill any lost water from evaporation etc. Even in colder climates the water can free and as soon as it melts it will start back up as long the water level is sufficient.
@timhallas4275
@timhallas4275 5 жыл бұрын
@@seanregehr4921 Wrong. The "external force" is gravity. The water had to be lifted to the upper container in order for this action to begin. That is applied potential energy.. Once the upper container is empty, there is no longer potential energy available. The idea that rain filling the upper container is adding energy. The point is, this is no more perpetual motion than is the water cycle .... evaporation...condensation...precipitation. It requires energy from the sun to work.
@seanregehr4921
@seanregehr4921 5 жыл бұрын
@@timhallas4275 - I guess you missed the explanation of how this works. Pressure raises the water and is the auto-balancing mechanism. All that is needed to maintain this function is the correct water level. The water cycle is perpetual motion.
@timhallas4275

Not water as water conducts electric potential. The only thing utterly harmless to electronics would be mineral oil, and you would need significantly thicker inner diameter for the tubing. Still, yes.,The setup of a liquid cooled pc is feasible a and even commonplace for artists or people interested in higher computer power. Cool trick is having a fish tank of mineral oil sealed airtight in a fish tank to give the illusion a sunken computer tower.

It's called HERON's fountain. The device was invented by Heron of Alexandria, a greek inventor and mathematician who lived in the first century CE. You're welcome

Flow of you fountain is much stronger than others, i hope this is due to greater height between bottles or due to bigger opening of pipe, i was thinking to make it for getting energy for lights/bulbs.

I think if you change the 5-gallon jug to use straw size holes and tubes, instead of the thicker tubes that it would last a lot longer.

I'd love to see how to make perpetual fountain so water refills itself?

This will work even both the bottles are kept parallel to each other. Not require to lower the bottle. To repeat the cycle swap the tubes of drain to fountain. And start it will work.

This is not a water pump but is used for long-term irrigation by self-compensation with every evaporation And I used it to water the birds

I came across this looking for ideas for a birdbath/fountain that did not require electric or solar power. With that being said would this work with PVC pipes as tanks in a straight verticle set up with a shower head at the top, or would that mess up the flow? Also with it also being a birdbath with the increased amount of water, other than evaporation would I need to fill it often?

Hi Tony, My mistake on posting this video is not showing the length of time that the water flows. the fountain will only flow as long as it takes for the top water supply to drain down to the lower bottle. We are talking about up to 10 minutes, which means that you would have to constantly be switching the bottles around. I'd like to have the same thing, since birds are attracted to the sound of splashing water and we have enough trees that solar panel is not a good option.

@@YeanyScience Thank you for that information I looked up other ideas and seen your video on a fountain in a bottle and thought about combining the two setups but came to the conclusion it would not work due to air pressure not being correct. So now I am working on a ram pump design for this purpose If I come up with something I will for sure let you know.

Will study this and emulate this to try this as way to filter water for my aquarium. This will free me from depending on electricity and frying my fishes when the submersible pump becomes defective.

Once primed will this carry on working until the water has evaporated ?. Or if enclosed so water can not escape will it run forever ? . It looks to me like like an elaborate version of putting a big bucket of water on a see saw .The other end of the see saw is down but its attached to a big syringe of water .The weight of the water in the bucket pushed the syringe in and the water goes up in the air but stops when the see saw with the bucket on reaches the ground.

If you upgrade your twirl on the bottle and make a greater vortex when pouring out the water, you're going to pour much faster.
