Spoilers Hi Data, just some notes before I forget: 1. Hutson had just three assists in each of the first three rounds of playoffs, and then he improved a little and got 4 assists in the finals. I would expect offensive defensive leader having something like a winning goal at least once in every playoff series, not a point per series. We should keep an eye on him. I hope it was just rare downtime for him. 2. Could you, please, check for me, what nationality is Rask and how we acquired him? I tried to look it, but I could not find it. 3. Let's get Kiprusoff every chance to succeed. He could be something in top4 in the next 8+ years and he looks to be ready to make a team.

Thanks for the notes! 1. Yes, this was very odd from Hutson considering his track record.. It should just be a hiccup, and he still did well with a lot of minutes, but we've come to expect more offense from him and can't just let it disappear. 2. Rask is Finnish and we got him in a trade with Columbus! It was the 2032 offseason. Busenius/Romanov/5th for Rask and a 3rd 3. Agreed on Kiprusoff! We'll see what we can do

@@Data782 I am afraid we broke the rules then, because we played Rask with Jarventie from the game 7 against LAK and later on he got injured. But anyway, this is probably for the first time when I feel the team winning the Cup did not even deserve to be in the final, let alone winning the Cup.

You're sadly right! I think I mentioned that I thought he was Swedish which was my mistake. It was an honest mistake and we didn't win the Cup so we'll be able to carry on without any guilt, but it's good that we know now

My 2 cents... Mikkola has been vezina caliber in the season but junk in the playoffs. I'd keep him to ensure Brule can handle the load and give 50 to Brule and 30 to Mikkola. If Brule does well, trade Mikkola next offseason. It's a big risk to go with Brule and someone else as goalies are voodoo. It would help with $ to trade him though so it's a though decision. Another big player that was terrible in the playoffs is Hutson. He's another that I'd keep but, if he's as bad next playoffs, use his trade value and replace him. I'd run it back as is if it wasn't for all of the kids pushing for spots on the team. I don't think that we can keep them all in the AHL. I think that our top 6 is set so it probably means trading Nazar and a couple of bottom 6 players so we can have a couple of youngsters make the team. Trading Nazar would also make space for Emelin on the 3rd line. If we need more cap space, do we have a high salaried player that has an average/bad fit with the coach? If so, maybe he's the odd man out. Or maybe we trade a high salaried over 30yo player like Perfetti for a future star if there's a high pick available at the draft... Wouldn't be my 1st choice as he sims well but regression is bound to happen soon so maybe that's another option. There's a lot of ways things can go. In Data we trust. Go Fleet!

The most valuable 2 cents you can get ❤️ In theory, I agree on Mikkola. Brule might be able to take over, but why trade away an 89 OVR making under $8M to roll the dice? The issue really comes down to needing to free up cap space. Yes we have players coming up, but trading Perfetti after the season he had would be tough. Nazar might make more sense, but I'm not sure if it'd even be worth it to trade out a player making as little as he does who also produces at such a high level (even this year with way less ice time). We'd have to really look at EXACTLY how much money we need to keep this team as relatively untouched as possible while also promoting those who need to be. Worst case, Nabokov/Ferguson can be excess in terms of roster spots. We'll also keep an eye on Hutson. If I had to guess, this year was just a hiccup. Thanks for your thoughts after such a tough one. Looking forward to year #14!
