YEGOR SURIN Scouting Report | Skilled, Violent, but Raw Winger!

In this episode of the Prospect Spotlight series, our scouts take a half-hour deep dive into the game of a highly-skilled and violent winger who will need a whole bunch of development in order to hit his high upside: Yegor Surin! First, they introduce the player with his profile, statistical production, and his trifecta of puck skills: shooting, passing, and handling. Next, they shift their attention to his habits, tools, and toolkit, discussing why he is falling down rankings, including their own. Last, they debate Surin's projection at the NHL level from both stylistic and statistical perspectives, before capping off the episode by looking at which NHL teams would be the best fit for him.

I disagree completely with your assessment. He forchecks back checks hits fights what more do you want. He is very young yet. You don’t think that NHL caliber coaching can’t rein him in. I see him hit then go right back to the play. Your use of the word violent doesn’t fit. Plays with passion is better. This is a guy that can skate with the best. One thing I do agree with he shoots from the perimeter but he does have a good shot. You don’t see him lagging on the backcheck he comes back hard. Montreal needs more players that are hard to play against
