Apart from the fact that this is such a great interview, Manish and Achintya sitting with their back straight throughout the interview are very intriguing.

Loved the boys , after watching Amer and Manish and looking at Achintya and Manish together, I cannot imagine anybody else but Achintya playing Amer.He became Amer , he is gonna be an incredible actor if he decided to become one...such humble kids..God bless.

I don't remember what I was doing As I curiously started watching 'Yeh Ballet', seeing Indian actors and new concept, thinking it is going to be another good web series like 'The Selection Day'. the movie was so engaging that just before the climax dance sequence, I realised that it is a wonderful movie only. Its narrative just flowed like water. only glitches I could find that maybe Sooni Taraporevala could have avoided sudden outbursts of dance numbers. BTW, such a wonderful interview after a long time by Anupama Chopra. And please don't compare 'Yeh Ballet' with 'Gully Boy'.

I was putting this move off because most of the dance movies are sooo bad but I finally watched it and I LOVED it! It has a strong storyline.
@pradeepshetty81724 жыл бұрын
The movie was nice but after Slumdog millionaire and Gully boy the underdog story is getting jaded. I felt Saul's character felt short. The star of the movie is Manish. This chap can consider a career in the movies as a back up to his ballet. Manish is raw yet the emotions he conveyed felt genuine. The families of both boys were spot on in their deliverables. Asif seem a bit polished for a character from the slums. Having said that there is no denying he has tried hard to be the best version of this character. Overall the film is good but because we have been over explosed to the Mumbai slum underdog genre, I wasnt overjoyed. I reckon the movie should have had more dance training routines coz as an Indian audience ballet is a dance form we know little of. To see more of their hard work, the pain they endure against all odds and master their craft would have been more engaging. As an audience I would have felt I got introduced to a new artform. But since this movie is for Netflix I reckon a global audience sensibility is kept in mind. The entire Diwali celebration bit and the communal angle was not required as it didn't add to the stort telling of the film but I can see why it felt required as it is the reality of the characters from the slums. Sooni's direction and the look of the film is spot on. Overall a good weekend afternoon watch.

Why would this project be compared to Gully Boy? It would make sense if it was compared to Billy Elliot about a boy who becomes interested and loves ballet instead of boxing or anything else considered more "masculine"
@gourangiverma39474 жыл бұрын
maybe because of the common aesthetic like the old bombay look, an underdog story, having a passion for something unconventional, unsupportive parents, religion. but I don't think either film is a copy of the other. both films are good in their own right. as a lover of both classical music and hip-hop, i can say i liked both.

I auditioned Amir who was a very good actor but then he got admission to the very prestigious Royal Ballet School in London so he could not be in the movie & I had to look for someone else to play him.
