I was 7 when the 1971 war took place. My father flew the F86 in combat in that conflict and shot down 1 x SU7 and damaged a second. I still have his logbook with all the entries. Our family (mother and siblings) was at Masroor when the first IAF night raid occurred. My father had been sent elsewhere during the fight. I remember looking up at the night sky all lit up with the anti-aircraft guns. It was quite a show of lights, noise and thundering sounds. And being a child, I felt no fear; I was too fascinated by what was happening to be afraid. My father passed away in 2017 but I still have his old PAF papers (ID's, etc), and his flight suit. I also had his flight helmet but sadly it got lost somewhere through our moves during the years. Wonderful memories.

I left Pakistan in 1987 December for higher education to US and now settled in Abu Dhabi-UAE with my family. I belongs to Hyderabad-Sindh a migrated family from India (middle class). I remember, when I had left Pakistan December 28 1987, I had only $ 40/- in my pocket but my dream was big and Allah helped me to achieve it. My heart is always goes with Pakistan eventhough, I am not far from my beloved Country but still tears comes to my eyes to see what Army and Piliticians had done to this Pak Sar Zameen.
