So refreshing to have Yelawolf back. This album definitely was worked on until they felt it was perfected. This is the yela we fell in love with plus he's figured out a new instrumental mashup on each song that is the sound of what Memphis rap can evolve into. He def mixed ghetto with cowboy. His talent can never be denied and it seems he decided to go with what he felt and not what producers or bystanders suggested. He found himself again and we all know we need this type of southern rap from this album. He just gave that ghetto south rap an upgraded sound by mixing electrics with the Memphis sound....or Memphis sound and added acoustic for more cowboy. Proud to have yela back bc he's always been underrated. Glad dj Paul on his side here bc still huge influence on this album of our original southern rap places where I came from at age 13 fell in love with. Credit must be given where it's due. Sucks that rap really isn't what I call "rap" anymore ..very few and far between still alive or can make real rap til this day. Personally, being from TN and meeting all these rappers on Beale as well as growing up at 16, bumping my Memphis 10s to 36 mafia, playa fly, gangsta Blac, project Pat, lil wyte, Tommy wright 3rd..from M town with that country rap sound we fell in love with... I don't want a jelly bragging about his bitch and talking about demons he talks to that totally became gimmick and rapping about dumb ass shit...I don't want an upchurch being super loud and obnoxious..as well as political...I want the southern rap sound to carry this 36 mafia vibe as well as stay up to date with this mixing of genres instrumentals from all genres have figured out to do. Therefore, after being a fan of yelas since his first album and even meeting his humble self I can proudly say...he made Lord infamous, himself, people that agree with me on what southern rap (and rap in general) is, people that appreciate talent, people searching for real rap that u vibe to, rap that tells stories(as it always was supposed to).. and ppl pulling for a new and professional sound from the south that carries that Memphis vibe while being delivered by a extremely talented artist...all had to be super proud of this album. The south needs that sound carried on and most people like me agree that we don't really like the country accent imitated rap the industry tried to replace the sound with. It ruins that laid back flow we want when we want southern fucking rap. yelawolf has always had it in him , however, feels like he's back to himself... and standing ovation for his artistic and upgraded representation of the beloved southern rap genre. He's back to focusing on one topic on most of these tracks from the album. Something changed and depressed him when he got involved with Eminem. His focus wasn't there. However, I can def tell dj Paul is involved as an honest and wanting the sound to carry on ...from his heart..type of involvement here. Big plus for upgrading the sound for the first time in country rap while still keeping the Memphis bumping ass laid back flows and flow bars. I don't think anyone was on his side for a while or either they were doping yelawolf up with some shit when he got signed with Eminem and Eminem was serving his agenda for the industry...Yelawolf wasn't making sense and lost his sound. Soooo...long story short huge ass plus here for his work, in my opinion....for whatever he done different...he done it right. I always always have loved Yelawolf and hated watching him being represented in any other way than a brilliant artist, amazing vocalist, and producer. His talent cannot be denied. He's back. Me and you. Great ass song..alot of hits on this album. He made me proud and I missed yelawolfs originality paired with my fav influences as well. Maybe he got away from bad people...maybe he got away from bad things..maybe he should have never signed with shady...maybe just maybe they wont mess with him more than they have and keep letting him make his sound..its so damn refreshing and nice to hear. The southern "country rap" shouldn't have a country accent unless your freaking haystak. It's not professional...I'm just being honest and had to say this shit. Lol County rap does live on. Yelawolf is back...let's pray he is surrounded by positive and honest people that protect this sound as well as Yelawolf himself. Dj Paul got his back. So, Memphis ...we got his back. Great work Yelawolf. Last of a dieing sound. Thanks for your art. Much needed in the country rap genre that has became non existent or unartistic...lacking substance like this. Great freaking job. Stay up...stay you. :)
