Lift a Sail is going to have a very unique mix of sounds. You've got the more mellow pop rock from One Bedroom, a nice solid rock of Transmission Home and a punk pop sound of Make Me So. This album will defiantly be a hit or miss album for a lot of fans. For me, this album is hitting me hard. I'm so excited for 10/7!

+Criz Jay that's a tough question to answer. I've been listening to their music since 2004. I think the songs I'd give you are songs that I thoroughly enjoy the most. But if there's any song I like, it'd have to be about Ryan's family or songs about his idea of success in California. Where as in later albums, he talks about his hometown, Jacksonville. Or the songs about his best friend who unfortunately lost his life in a car accident after having a reaction to his medicine. But if you want me to pick their best. I'd have to say, personally, Telescope, Sing For Me, See Me Smiling and My Mountain. And of course Transmission Home.

People keep hating on how yellowcard's new album isn't "as good" as others, that it's different. Since when is different bad? All of their albums are different: Ocean Avenue is their classic, Paper walls is more about love and sentimental feelings, Lights and Sounds is more punk and about wordly events (Two Weeks from Twenty), WYTTSY is about living life to the fullest with the people you love, and Southern Air is all about summer. They don't do the same thing each album, and this is just a continued act of that. I love it!

As a casual who only originally knew Yellowcard as the "Ocean Avenue," band, this song is gorgeous. If you're a YC fan, enjoy the variety they explore and bring, because it leads to some of the best gems like this. I say this as a huge fan of Incubus who has gone through their fair of big sound changes lol.

I don't know if I'll enjoy this album as much as their last three, but I am enjoying the variety from their first three songs and I can respect that they want to branch out to a different style. I do miss LP's drums for sure and I'm sad that they'll probably never be able to make another song like Rivertown Blues but I'm still a long-time fan and always eager to here new stuff. Even if I don't like it overall as much as the other albums, I still love the band and will support them as they continue making music.

I personally like this a lot more than their other more recent albums. I've outgrown pop punk (it ain't 2003 anymore and I ain't 15 anymore). This has a much more mature sound. Not sayin' I'm too mature or too cool for pop punk, but this music style just sounds better to me now.

Yellowcard evolved from traditional Pop Punk since Lights & Sounds, since that their songs have a more darker and mature tone. I personally think YC is one of the few bands that have evolved without changing the essence on their sound.

C-Threep Yellowcard is one of the few bands i think has evolved their sound without changing their essence. Ocean Avenue, will always have a special place in my heart, is one of those albums that cheer you up everytime. But since Lights and Sounds, though the pop punk vibe was obviously still there, it was a total different feeling that album and Paperwalls ( which i think is a master piece) got me through a lot of hard stuff. WYTTSY and SA were fair good albums, but not really awesome. Now, with Lift a Sail im not really sure what to think, the only song i really felt yhe Yellowcard vibe was My Mountain, the album haves some other good moments, but overall it felt like a Pop punk Coldplay album, not bashing them for trying new things, but not really felt catched by it, anyway... YC will be one of my favorite bands forever and i will support them no matter what.

Not bad of a song. I like the guitar in this. Sounds really awesome. YC trying something new. More power to them. They still make incredibly awesome tracks. The beginning of the song is what did it for me. The drums and then the instrumental? Okay that's all I needed. The album Lift a Sail will definitely have a variety of different sounds but isn't that the point of exploring and trying something new? I'm looking forward to the album. And as always the perfection of every instrument is always on point. YESSS THAT VIOLIN!!! 2:40!!! LOVE IT!! YC!! FTW!!! Out of the three this has to be my favorite IMO. THIS GETS ME EXCITED FOR WHAT'S NEXT TO COME!!!

I understand why people don't like when a band changes but it happens. I feel a little proud that they did this. Change happens to everything. Yellowcard is experimenting with a different sound. Besides there are only what 3 or 4 songs out right now. Let's not make a hasty judgement on this there are other songs. Also they don't make music for the fans. Really they probably do it for themselves and they are happy to show it to other people but they aren't trying to make the music for them. Yellowcard is doing what they want. It is a bold move because their older sound was popular but that's what makes this album interesting. I think I'll enjoy just to see what they can do. Also the violin is in the songs listen carefully.

I am warming to this song every-time I listen to it. But with Southern Air, I never had to listen twice to make up my mind. I was blown away by the album. I was so excited for the future of Yellowcard. But they sound like they have listened to the new 30 Seconds to Mars album and said *We should do 30 seconds to mars but sound like Coldplay as well* One of the best things about Yellowcard is the feel of summer love at the beach with a lovely melody and great chorus to sing along to, with a violin in the background. I know they are trying to change the sound of Yellowcard. But don't forget what your best at and what made you famous in the first place. But again I love Yellowcard, and I will buy the album to support them :)

I could understand why some fans may not like the new album, I'm pretty ok with it. I think this is one of my favorites, I LOVE IT. And bands NEED to experiment, older sounds are great, but they can surf on that wave forever. Like most experimental albums, they'll take the best of their experiments of sounds with this one (hopefully not too much of the trance), mix it with some of the old, viola. Keeping YC, YC, but still new. :) I may be musically illiterate, but I don't find a lot / some of the sound that different to YC before this, but I guess thats just me.

As someone who has been listening to Yellowcard for a LONG time, I was 9 when I got OFTK (currently 22), I must say, these songs are probably the best Yellowcard has ever done. The new sound, direction, the lyrics, it's all so wonderful to see the guys actually doing the music THEY want to do. Can't fans understand, it's not about you, it's about them. They have to love what they create, and the guys worked really really hard on this album. And to say you are off-put by this album is disrespectful to them. Band's change sound so they don't sound stale, look at Paramore!! They changed sounds and it worked out so well for them and I am hoping it works out well for these guys too!! They're all so humble and deserve nothing better than success.
