Wonderful photos. I have many wild raven friends in Australia, but their voices are different and their eyes are ice blue. Ravens are among my favourite companions. Thank you for sharing.

I see these guys flying around when it's -38 C (-36 F) outside. How are their limbs not frostbitten? My bare hands feel like a million needles after 12 seconds in that cold. My only guess is that their limbs are rigid and devoid of circulation.

No, these birds' feet are not devoid of circulation, or at least not entirely. They come with a built-in heat exchanger that pre-cools the blood before it reaches the feet and warms it up again when it returns from the feet. This makes their bodies more energy-efficient and also helps slow down the process of melting ice under their feet, so that under normal circumstances they have plenty of time before they might get stuck to whatever icy surface they put their feet on. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rete_mirabile
