Very impressive hike PJ. I was up above Gardiner (Jardine) today filming the work being done on the old road to Mammoth. The Yellowstone River is still pretty blown out downstream throughout Paradise Valley. Hoping for some relief soon to be able to raft and fish.

I'm very glad to see Park Junkie isn't stupid. Well, not totally stupid, lol. Great video, even if you didn't get to the top, views were spectacular. As Harry put it, a man's *got* to know his limitations. Mine probably ended at that loose rock field, since I've found out that if you go up it, you probably have to come back down on it. And that was only 3 1/2 minutes in. 😁

Sure, it's disappointing to get all the way up there and not being able to make it to the summit. It's always good to keep in mind what Ed Viesturs said: “Getting to the top is optional. Getting down is mandatory.” The mountain will be there tomorrow and the day after that...

Yes, I climbed Rainier once with Ed, as he used to be a guide for RMI. As you suggest, the one thing I took away from that climb: “The ascent is optional, but the descent is mandatory “… Truth from the master…

@@theparkjunkie Your hikes are impressive and the video of the south loop was a great representation of the park's features. You should consider working in YNP in the winter. It is a whole different world. BTW, wife and I have visited the park 23 times including 3 times in winter. Unfortunately the crowds and cost have have both gone way up. Saw 4 buses from the road at a feature and just drove on by on our last extended visit. Keep the shiny side up, but keep on filming!
