Such a beautiful hotel. Way beyond my travel budget, but, as Waikiki can be noisy, crowded, I always stroll thru the lobbies of the Moana and the Royal Hawaiian for peace and quiet, and the fact they are so beautiful

Hi Chris! I appreciate your super helpful reviews! We just got back from Waikiki. Having stayed four nights in the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort. I was soooo on the fence between where we stayed and the Sheraton after watching your review on it. I also was very curious about the Moana just from walking past it every day during our trip, but despite the banyan tree and other perks, the small old-time-y room, hallway noise and street noise is enough to put me off. So thanks for those detail! My husband works for Mcmenamins here in Portland, Oregon where we live and their hotels are all that old style so I've had my fill of them! :D. I was curious to know if you have stayed at the OWBR where we stayed and if so, why it wasn't one of your faves in comparison to others. And if not, to let you know how much we loved it there! :) We stayed in a beachfront king room on the 8th floor..it was everything I'd hoped! Jacuzzi, separate bathroom, roomy with a balcony and rocker/slider chairs, no street or hallway noise and a view from Diamond head down to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. We are thinking of returning and renting an airbnb so we have room for our adult kids to travel with us next time, but we really enjoyed the Outrigger. I was not super impressed by Duke's though, which surprised me! ALWAYS chockablock full of people in a hurry to brush past rudely. We ate three times at the Hula Grill though. Anyway, thanks again, I'm enjoying several of your other videos on other places we'd like to visit next! :D ♡

Thanks Christine. I've never stayed at the Outrigger.. I'll consider it next time

Had the pleasure of staying in the same type of room back in 1986 for the mere total of $100 for the whole week for two people! Back then there was no air conditioning but they had transom windows that allowed the cross ventilation. It was a beautiful hotel. Don Ho use to preform in bar. 😀

Guess this must be old footage? i was in waikiki two weeks ago and there are staff strikes/protests which have apparently been going on for months. staff wanting a payrise are marching up and down out the front of that hotel (and every other sheraton/westin) banging drums and chanting all day, every day. You can hear them from blocks away. Not sure i'd want to be staying there at the moment.

Great review on the hotel! I really like the view of the ocean from the room! However, one thing that I did not like about that hotel is that the bed is very close to the front door to the room. Oh well, hotels aren't perfect!

Great review Chris! Tho it is s great property, and right there in Waikiki, I still like staying over on the west side in Ko Olina. Waikiki has been becoming too much. So I stay west and do it in doses. I'll be back on Oahu in Jan and i'll film an Oahu eats video!

Excellent review. Love having cocktails at the bar by the huge banyon tree! Gorgeous hotel. The Honolulu coffee company at the hotel (which I do like) isn't that cheap as compared with Starbucks or Peet's! Parking is pretty awful. Thanks for the great review!

Hey Chris! Big fan and long time supporter. Was hoping you can help. My brother is getting married in March and we wanted to have a small bachelor party in Waikiki. What hotel would you recommend that’s on the beach and a younger crowd with not a lot of kids. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi.. I think the hotel with the biggest party atmosphere on the beach is the Outrigger. Probably because it's got Dukes in it which is always lively

Hey Chris, Great review. I'm surprised that the room size is so small. I attended a wedding there in April and the setting was spectacular and the food was scrumptious too!! Luv sitting in those rocking chairs to people watch:-) Try the Ritz next time as the rooms are about 400-500 sq ft on floors 9-22 ($500/night) and it was built in 2016. Safe travels. Cheers from Vancouver Canada!!

I have stayed at the Moana. Rooms in the original wings built in 1901 & the early 1920s are small relative to modern hotels but were considered commodious to upscale visitors in the early 20th century. You can't beat the ambience redolent of old Hawai'i, much like the Royal Hawaiian or Halekulani.

@@YellowProductions Thanks - I'm trying to book a trip there and I know that there might be suites in the Historic wing, maybe one or two, and I'm trying to see if I can find out the room numbers, locations and maybe even some pictures. Years ago I recall coming across pics of a couple and about 30 years ago, I spent every Thanksgiving at the hotel for about five years. We always stayed in the historic wing and I fell in love with it. Any help or direction on who to talk to about this might help. I'm not getting a lot of help when I call the hotel directly. Thanks.
