I don’t know why people beat up this song so much. It’s so cute. & there’s no actual hate toward Olivia Rodrigo. Perhaps they would have been better off with a different title, like “Jealous Rodrigo” as it’s about her jealousy of her from loving her so much, a girl crush essentially, just innocent envy of someone you admire a lot, so that you want to be like them. It’s a very innocent subject, nothing hateful whatsoever. I think the problem is that they made the title "Hate Rodrigo" for publicity and thought that once the song came out, people would get it. But they overestimated the intelligence of stans, because most people didn't understand the actual message and instead for some reason saw it as a diss track against Olivia Rodrigo or something. I think the issue is that it flew over people's heads.
