Chewing GGUM is mostly connotated to being cool or feeling cool and that's exactly what he had in mind when he initially created the main idea of his solo song. It's simply feeling yourself and not giving an f to the 'people' and whatever they do, they will never get rid of you type of confidence. You'll stick like gum. Hence to why he acted like a menace in a radio show-representing the critics or people who act like critics and blab about anything about someone on-air (opinions made in public for attention) which is also close to his experiences in the industry. To me, it feels underwhelming... I love the MV and the choreo, and I agree it fits Yeonjun very well, but tbh, I expected so much more from his debut solo song. It's not bad, but it's not great either. For me it sounds too repetitive, in a way that you don't really catch a big difference between the verse and the chorus since it doesn't go much anywhere. Like, okay there's no bridge again, we get that K-pop is like this these days, but the main issue is there's no clear development in the song, it just stays steady and ends before you know it... I’m sure it’ll be good for dance challenges and tiktoks, the 'ggum jilgeong' part is super catchy - but that seems to be the main draw. With the MV it works well, and I'll definitely be watching the performances, but I don’t think I’d enjoy listening to it much on spotify in my free time. That said, if this is the direction Yeonjun wanted to take, that’s fine. I just feel like the song doesn’t showcase everything he’s capable of, because we know he’s incredibly talented. I think that for a track like this it makes sense there is no bridge because it is hip-hop and electric. Personally, I like that he decided to debut with a bold, fun song, it might not be everyone's taste, but I enjoy listening to it, the beat is addictive. For a debut, is very attention catching and really showcases rap styles he's never done before. I think during performances his stage presence will be insane too. He is really showing his confident energy with this one. I do believe that the rest of his mixtape will explore different genres, I truly expect some r&b (his voice suits it so much) or rap with meaningful, personal, lyrics. I just wanted to share my thoughts, I appreciate to see your opinion on this
