I'll try to make this short.. music is a taste and everyone has a different one .. and what do u define soulful? Sad chorbin bais hamikdosh songs? Havdalah song by yehuda green? If u get out of that little box ur cramped in u will release that some people need this upbeat music and it talks to the soul much more for a lot of people.. songs like this brings simcha and dance and after all that's what some people need.. so instead of judging or mocking a crazy funny song that's wired in its own way... stop having sinas chinom and embrace ur fellow jew ... and do me a favor. Get out of ur shell stop making people like what u like ... I really hope if ur a father or a michanuch u don't push ur self ideology on anyone.. because ur wrong... za matzliach

This is a perfect way to highlight what Chazal said about using words from Tanach as song lyrics. What do Chazal say? The Gemara in Sanhedrin says that when a passuk from Shir Hashirim is used this way, the sefer, so to speak, dresses in mourning and complains to the Ribono shel Olam about how it is being abused. The Mishna Berura (560 sk14) says that this applies to any verse in Tanach, not just Shir HaShirim. Rav Moshe (Igros YD 2:142) speculates that perhaps some are lenient in this matter by viewing the prohibition as referring specifically to Shir HaShirim but he finds this unconvincing and says he does not know of a hetter. Although it stands to reason that, as Rav Waldenberg (Tzitz Eliezer 22:10) says, that the issur does not apply if the songs are used as a way to praise Hashem, and similarly Rav Ovadia (Yabia Omer OC 3:15) that it is not assur if the songs are sung with יראת שמים וכובד ראש, Reb Moshe (Igros YD 1:173) says that if you are listening to them for mere thoughtless pleasure it is certainly assur. The point is that the Torah is a davar kadosh, it is the highest kedusha that exists in our world, and its abuse as mere entertainment is me'ilah bakodesh.
@struedel255 жыл бұрын
I didn't think of that! I thought I was clever for knowing where the pasuk was and the great irony of making a dance song out of it. Thank you for reminding me of the halachot. Now if I could only get it out of my head.

So sad to see ... I can find 17 hetirim for this song.. but not a single one for mocking a fellow jew ... u say this world is full of hate? The hate starts with u .. bring me 35 more psakim and it will just prove my point .ur a self hating jew who hates and really hates any jew that's not like u and u bring the torah to justify ur bashing of someone who isn't on ur level.. don't get me wrong if u want to be a good jew listen to the torah but how dear u to mock another jew ... all the learning is for nothing if u can't except someone who isn't on ur level.. sinas chinom is precisely this ... u think ur doing a great thing by writing all this ... buddy the people who hate like u is why mashiach didn't come yet .

@@J.C.M.Y.E.N.F. what on Earth are you talking about. My wife is the head of the English department at the local college. Perhaps we could arrange a correspondence course that would enable you to both understand the written word and, concomitantly, to communicate coherently. I was not criticizing this video. On the contrary, I am very happy it was made, because it demonstrates that the pesukim used in popular songs are not used to inspire or to teach, but instead just as a vehicle for a catchy dance tune. For example. Shlomo Carlebach, like him or not, when you sing his songs, the meaning of the words is immediately evident and is an essential element of the song. Some modern singers, on the other hand, write to entertain, and cynically use the words of Tanach in order to make the entertainment kosher. That is a bad thing. I'm trying to make this as simple as possible.

@@J.C.M.Y.E.N.F. The intention was to spread awareness and get people thinking - the purpose was to show the practice of taking a tune, and putting hebrew words to it, in order to make it a jewish song,even when the words dont make sense to put to a song, - if we translated the passuk and sang it in english it would sound very silly. Of course there are jews on different levels, and thats the way Hashem set it up. And some people enjoy and connect to this style of music which is certainly okay. however songs can be composed with this style of tunes that have real meaning, there are plenty of such songs, this video is highlighting the practice of taking a tune and putting any hebrew words to it, any passuk, which is not respectful to the torah or to us. the video is getting us to think - about the words of the songs we listen to, there are plenty of beautiful jewish songs and we can compose many more! BE"H The purpose was to highlight the practice itself - not to criticize people i see how it can be taken the wrong way, and could possibly look like its making fun of people. but thats really not the intention,

In general the video/song is poking fun at the current genre of popular chassidic music and music videos. The main joke here is the verses from the Torah that are being song in the low part as well as the words of the high part taken from Rashi's commentary have almost no emotional value. It's simply describing the technical laws of tzoraas (leprosy). The rest of the video contains elements found in the majority of Jewish Music videos these days which might be highlightling a lack of creativity/originality...
