Yerba mate | La Merced De Campo

I tried La Merced Campo Sur, it leaves a rich, slightly roasted flavor on the palate, it’s softer than De Campo. Really tasty 😋

I know what that feels like. It's hard for me to get a lot of different brands here in South Korea. I have found that www.pampadirect.com has lots of option and international shipping. You should check them out. I would love to try the Campo Sur!

La Merced is a really, really good brand. I've tried barbacuá, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. But you already know about that one... Out of the regular brands, I'd say La Tranquera is yerba mate done right. It's a strong, no BS kind of yerba. I will always recommend that to anyone, except for newbies, maybe, as it packs a punch with its bitterness. But to me as an argentino, when someone names mate with capital M, it's La Tranquera.

I may love La Tranquera, too, then. I am trying to get some to try, but I am finding it difficult to get here in S. Korea. Will definitely do a review when I get some. Thanks for sharing!!

@@yerbatravels If you happen to find it, I'd love to hear your opinion because it's the most controversial mate. Either you love it and become a fan, or you hate it. There's no neutral when it comes to La Tranquera!

Maybe it’s the batch I got but La Tranquera last very little to me, it gets washed like half a thermo in. But since we are recommending. Brands, one that I like and that is pretty similar to Playadito (my daily yerba) is “Mañanita”. On the other hand I drink La Merced when I want to treat myself (it’s a bit pricy), it’s one of my favorites and I agree with you I’d place it above the other brands that you can regularly get in terms of quality.

La Merced is a good choice. Two factors that play into bitterness are the amount of powder and how long you let it steep. La Merced has a nice softness/sweetness if you do not steep it too long. I typically drink it right after filling my gourd, and I love the taste.

How does La Merced de Campo compare to Playadito?

Playadito has a sweeter almost fruitier taste. De campo offers a more balanced flavor and has a decent kick of energy with it.

I found this one to be more calming than energizing. It does provide a bit of pick me up but not as much as other yerbas.

Mine would have to be Anna Park. I also would put Rosamonte Especial at the top followed closely by Isondu barbacua, La Merced De Camp, and Canarias (yellow bag). What's your top yerba of all time?

@@yerbatravels thanks for the insight. I love Rosamonte SE - possibly my favourite of all time, but jostling with Playadito, La Rubia and Pajarito SE... Got a Merced Campo Sur that I'm looking forward to opening. I can sort of see the appeal with Canarias yellow but it's just too damn strong and bitter for me, and the caffiene content must be off the charts. Unfortunately I can't get Anna Park in the UK to my knowledge - but would love to try it as have heard great things!

@@neotropos Great list of yerbas! Canaria’s for sure has a strong caffeine kick, but I think that is what makes it especially great for athletes. Check out Annan Mate for Anna Park.
