This video captures the essence of Yerevan's urban charm, bustling streets, and beautiful architecture. Watch as we stroll through lively city squares, pass by historic landmarks, and finally arrive at Vardanyan's Park, a true gem in the heart of the city.
The "Eternal Flame" monument, dedicated to the individuals who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of the Soviet order in Armenia, is located in the central administrative district, right between the Republic and Shahumyan Squares, within a park. This monument was built in 1960 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Soviet system in Armenia.
The monument of Stepan Shahumyan, a Communist Party figure, is located on the Shahumyan Square, not far from the Republic Square. The monument was opened in 1931 in Yerevan, as one of the symbols of socialism.
A statue is made of reddish granite. It is located in front of a gray basalt wall of seven pylons. The great figure is depicted in full height, with his arms crossed on his chest. The statue symbolizes Shaumyan’s greatness and his contempt for death.
Stepan Shahumyan was appointed as Extraordinary Temporary Commissioner in the Caucasus by Lenin. The great leader wrote to Stepan Shahumyan: “Dear Comrade Shahumyan! We are delighted with your stable and determined policy.” Shahumyan was shot in 1918 by British interventionists.
