This would be my ranking of the Mirror to the Sky tracks. 1. Circles of Time... 10 (Obviously, I'm not comparing "Circles of Time" to prog because Yes has done a lot of songs that were not prog but that were quite good. I think they are good songwriters and arrangers. "Circles of Time" to me is just a beautiful singer-songwriter track, and I'm glad Steve Howe left it with a stripped down arrangement and production so that Davison's eardrum-popping voice could ring out. And the lyrics sound like Joni Mitchell in all her BLUE-period glory.) 2. Mirror to the Sky... 9 (More keyboards would have been nice, but this still ranks up there with their best epics.) 3. Luminosity... 9 (Lyrics are a new age prayer, and Steve's slide guitar arrangement is exalted!) 4. Unknown Place... 9 (Incredible constantly-shifting arrangement, and Steve's lyrics are remarkable.) 5. All Connected... 8 (We are connected-- technologically and spiritually. Nice concept.) 6. Cut from the Stars... 8 (This star-drenched rocker sets off the underlying theme for the album.) 7. Magic Potion... 7 (Love IS the magic potion! Still hippies!) 8. One Second is Enough... 7 (Crazy dissonant chords jumping all over the place on this one!) 9. Living out their Dream 5 (Low rating is due to the lyrics which bitch about a wedding. Who cares?) Not sure how this averages out.
