Very underrated song in the Yes oeuvre and definitely one of my favorites.

This was the first album YES did after Jon Anderson left the band for the first time. The singer's name is Trevor Horn. It's a brilliant masterpiece of a song. The whole 'Drama' album is! This album was just another great chapter in the amazing evolution of the greatest band there ever was or ever will be!

The lead vocals on this song were actually sung by Chris Squire, which is very rare in YES''s catalogue. I wish he sang more lead , he has a terrific voice. The only other track I can think of that features more of his singing is maybe Parallels from Going for the One, but even that is more blended harmonies. And sadly we won't get any chances to hear more from Chris, RIP.

Thanks much for this review -despite the abscence of Jon and Rick, the production values on this album are fab!

There was an incredible production team on Drama, the main Yes guys and Eddie Offord did the backing tracks and that was the main 70's Yes production team, Trevor Horn produced the vocal overdubs (he went on to be a powerhouse in Pop music production from the 80's through the early 00's) and Hugh Padgham engineered. It's probably the best production crew Yes ever had.

Ladies and gentlemen Chris Squire and Yes the greatest show on earth. Squire is the only original member of Yes on this album. Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes join after Anderson and Wakeman leave. Drama is a great album that Howe shines on and of course Chris is Chris. Enjoy

Jon Anderson wasn't on this album. The lead singer on this album is Trevor Horn. Anderson rejoined a few years later & Trevor Horn became their producer.

Hi my dear.... now that was indeed a different kind of Yes song and I could see that in your facial expression.. but I also can see emotions coming up whilst listening to it. You take each and every song and video you react to absolutely serious. You listen to the lyrics, you're so much "into" the music, you feel the vibes, and you are not holdimg back with sharing your emotions with us subscribers. I liked this song but to be honest, I prefer the late 60s and 70s Yes music more. But nevertheless, the most important thing is that YOU like what you are experiencing during your reaction videos. Can't wait to see your next reaction video... no matter what it is you'll be reacting to. Hugs and kisses from your dear friend Gerry

Hi Cynthia, it's such a treat to be with you on your wonderful Yes journey. It's good to see you exploring the different eras of the band, may I suggest a few more songs I'm sure you'll love from different eras: "Hearts" from the next album 90125 when Jon came came back to the band, "Homeworld" from their 1999 album The Ladder, "South side of the sky" from the classic Fragile album from 1971 & lastly "Give love each day" from their 2001 album Magnification, best wishes

Hello Cynthia. A suggestion for you. Jon Anderson from the progressive rock band Yes, sings with a band called 4 Him. The title of the song is “All that I need”. It is on a various album titled, “Streams”.

No Jon Anderson on the Drama album -- Guess what ? - It's still brilliant - He is really important to Yes, but not crucial - I just love the track "Machine Messiah"
@roydavis52222 жыл бұрын
As stated already this lineup was 1980, Trevor Horn Vocals, Geoff Downes Keyboards, Chris Squire Bass, Alan White Drums and Steve Howe Guitars. HORN AND DOWNES went on to form the Buggles a few years later and had the first MTV video " Video Killed The Radio Star" sometime in 1982 I believe. This would be the First album Jon Anderson did not sing on and Yes its a transition into the 1980s type album.

It's my understanding that Yes used Jon Andersons vocals in parts as more harmony than anything else in this song. Especially when Trevor sings. I also hear Rick Wakemans organ sound in this finished version. They used the early demos of this song going back to 1977.

Yes is a band that reinvents themselves.They do have some new band members as well.I like the music up to the album Yes Tormato from 1978 then they go a bit comercial but still good.Richard Christopher Wakeman CBE is an English keyboardist. He is best known for being in the progressive rock band Yes. Now he had some great solo albums. Did you check out the recommendations for songs in your live chat only section?Cheers young lady stay safe and all the best from England.

Drama marked a change in Yes. They were transitioning from 70's melodic Art/Prog Rock to a more 80's MTV sound. Personally I didn't like 80's Yes at all(although this song rocks). Plus Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman left the band prior to this Album, so it just didn't sound the same. You might want to consider the group, Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe - 4 former members of Yes, who came out w/an incredible album in 1989. My favorite tune from ABWH, was "Order of the Universe".
@screwyootube12 жыл бұрын
Yes! ABWH is/was my favorite album & fave concert, even though I absolutely love the Fragile/Close to the Edge era. To be fair, I’ve found there’s great music in just about any Yes album to be found, although I’m not so sure about the 2000s stuff. I was barely aware of Yes when Drama came out, but I’ve accepted it as another chapter in their music. Same for the commercial stuff (90125 & Big Generator) in the 80s. But ABWH felt like what it was: 4/5ths of Fragile, returning to update Yes’s sound!

Yes, Your right an instrumental masterpiece 🇺🇸...this album does not include Jon or Rick Wakeman, still they really pulled it off in a cool 80s style 🙏 The entire album DRAMA, is just a great musical adventure, as is all there previous timeless works. 🌿👍
@richardcyrka66822 жыл бұрын
Jon Anderson is not on this album. He and Rick wakeman left after the Tormato tour. The lead vocalist on the Drama album is Trevor Horn with Chris Squire accompanying him a great deal of the time. Check out the last track Tempus Fugit....it's fantastic
@hardboiledharry40612 жыл бұрын
New direction for them, Geoff Downes is a brilliant keyboard player and was a great addition to replace the brilliant Rick Wakeman, it's a mixed bag for me, I only like this song and Tempus Fugit, Chris Squire on bass proves once again why he was the master as he plays like a lead guitar, this lineup lasted for this album only as their next album 90125 with Jon Anderson returning started the next phase for them. For me and many others it's the early 70's when they released their holy trinity, The Yes album, Fragile and Close to the Edge that proves just how great they were.

I saw yes at the Hammersmith Odeon when poor old Trevor Horn was trying to sing like Jon Anderson. The Drama band folded due to his trauma. Being a choir singer myself it's best to sleave the Alto to alto singers
@fredkrissman65272 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this song is different... Above all it's less prog, and more pop, which heralds a decade of less interesting music, not just by Yes, but by Jethro Tull, Heart (not really prog, but going from classic rock to pop), and many others IMO. And, of course, there is a void in the band due to Jon Anderson's "sabbatical" too! Great reaction, as usual AC; thanx!!!
