How do you clean and maintain balisong as properly without ruining them?

Well depends on what balisong you have. If you have something cheap I would just adjust the screws to as tight as they can be and still flip it then take locktite and squirter it on top of the screws and let it soak into the threads of the screws. Flip for 2 minutes to make sure it's not too tight then don't flip it for 8 hours. For something medium priced like squid trainer I'd take just top screws out without removing the handles. Take both screws and put locktite on middle threads of the screw and let it drip down to bottom of screws. Put the screws back in. Tighten it to the max without it stopping the handles from moving and being smooth in flipping. Flip it for like 25 to 40 seconds. Let sit closed for 5 minutes flip it for 15 seconds to make sure you didn't over tighten then let it sit for 12 to 18 hours.

Got a 4” 420 stainless 3mm blade with mother of pearl handle and fake damascus etching, 5” 420 stainless 3mm blade with glassbreaker on bottom and textured aluminum handle (EDC) and a 6” Aus6 stainless just for show as it has a very thin 1.5mm blade. All are spearpoint and very fast to deploy and very sharp. All around $40, I’m saving for a benchmade.

I prefer a heavier butterfly knife for an actual self-defense situation. God for bid I ever had to stab someone….. I wouldn’t want to …. Stab or slice them, but that Kershaw would hold up better than any other butterfly ….benchmade probably close second or maybe even ride up there with it but that’s the difference between a flipper, an actual self-defense knife
