This was the very first song I heard on my first real HiFi stereo, in my room at 13, in 1983. I was blown straight to the Moon at the sound of that guitar intro. The seperation, the clarity, the power. There was no turning back from there. I was offically an audiophile.

When music was music? I was around at the time. Believe me, there was a lot of crap.
@PeterSpaeter962 жыл бұрын
@@alukuhito Yes, right you are. And there were a lot of better songs than this one. And more than that, I agree with @Misa Velvet: Yes had made great prog rock albums in the first half of the Seventies. Why on earth did they have to play this cheap pop tune in 1983? I didn't like it back then, and I still don't like it.
@alukuhito2 жыл бұрын
@@PeterSpaeter96 I come back to this video for the visuals. I don't actually mind this music. I also like the duet the singer did with Gowan - Moonlight Desires - in the 80s, but 70s Yes was mind-blowing. You need to be in the right mood for it though. If you want something short and catchy to sing along to, better listen to something else. But, yeah, tons of crap music in the 80s. I don't even want to begin to start listing all that stuff.
@dystopian2153 Жыл бұрын
@@alukuhito I think they mean that now there's so much trash on the radio(mainstream music) that it's hard to find any good melodies. The singers sing weird and the music is obnoxious. In the 80s, 90s and early 2000s there were some great on the radio. Now you have to go to you tube or dig thru Spotify to find really great artists. To hear a great mainstream masterpiece is very rare now.

This is the first time I see this video for this song. Back then, the video they used for this song was totally different and not so outdated - some segments of it are also mixed into this video

I'm 24 and fairly new with the band Yes. I've grown to really love the album 'Fragile' as well as 'Closer to the edge' and I just cant wrap my mind around them being the same band that came out with this song

Those were the best days, to be there alive as a teenager in the 1980s was very special and the music is unrivaled, it was the evolution of the analog masters of the 60s and 70s reaching its peak. I don't know what happened in the 1990s with the introduction of hip-hop, reggae, and rap everything went into a nosedive.
@cle-chi3 ай бұрын
the 1990s were stiil good. Times had just changed from soft rock 1980s music . We had thicker skin by the 90s & 2000s
@keiler23303 ай бұрын
Hip-hop, reggae, and rap all pre-date the 90s. Bob Marley started in the 60s; Yellowman has been active since 1974. Hip-hop has been around since at least the 70s. I’m not sure how perfectly good genres that had been around for a while sent the 1990s, “…in a nosedive.” I was a teenager in the 90s, and my biggest problem with that decade was every record exec trying to find the next Nirvana.
