Thank you! I’m always looking out for free firewood - side of road, neighbors, transfer station etc. Someone told me” you can’t burn pine” I replied “really would you burn Pine if your family was cold”. Neighbors know I’m always looking for firewood, sometimes they will joke about it but considering my electrical company sends out one of those usage reports and my heating/electrical bill was 70% less then similar houses in the neighborhood-it’s worth it!

Exactly, I take any and all wood if it's free. Heat is heat. One year I burned 90% pine and 10% birch and cherry. No problems, only thing is pine burns fast so I had to reload more often, but I didn't care. I was toasty in my home.

You might appreciate this , I’m fully stocked for firewood for next winter, It took me 3 weekends from my the last wood stove burn to replenish ,chop, and stack -our local transfer station had free brush, wood dumping..so picked up mulberry, juniper, cedar etc , all free. ( you get a bit OCD) lol lol

Sounded like a master class in wood burning right there. Dry, Dry, Dry . He who burns wet wood will not only have dirty stove and pipe but cold winter.

I 100% agree, the pine myth is ridiculous, so I figured I'd put my 2 cents in

Great video! Ive burnt pine for years in my wood stove. I clean the pipe once a year and the soot ain’t bad at all. It is everywhere out here in California. I dry it down to 15%. I split thicker to slow down the burn and damp down the stove. My burn times are decent.

Properly dried pine is fine.

in many areas pine and juniper may be the only options. We use pine to start our fires and maybe take the chill out of the air in the mornings. Fires we want to last the night and keep a steady warmth we throw a couple big logs of juniper that will last the night.

I have been heating my house with 90% lodgepole pine for forty years now with no issues. Bark beetle killed trees that dry standing.

I love it because in my neck of the woods people hate it. I'm sitting burning some spruce and hemlock right now, it's been drying all summer and his dry as can be now. I've seen so much stuff about people saying pine will blow up your stove when in fact there's areas in the world where thats all they have, I've burnt it for years.

I burn anywood it just need to be seasoned. Mostly i do pine, spruce and birch mix 😊
@patjackie12563 ай бұрын
@@Ketis1985 there you go, I burn whatever fits in the stove and is seasoned. I'm not going to complain about wood especially when it's free for me.

Dry wood creates creosote if you don’t give it enough air. Problem with green wood is it requires much more air and even a cracked open stove door to burn properly in some cases. Then most your heat is going up the chimney and not into your house so a waste of wood at best and a future chimney fire at worst.

Free is free and better than paying the utility company. Dry wood and frequent cleaning prevent most issues.

Out west they burn mosty pine that's all they have. Plus, its crackling as it burns. As long as we're not burning oil.
@patjackie1256 Жыл бұрын
Exactly! I burn it all the time during the winter months. Just depends how much I have left over from the summer, pops nice, burns quick if split small, but if you keep it in large chunks it will last fairly long.
