Hostas are from the wonderful medicinal wild plantain family (not the banana looking plant lol..) There are wild and broadleaf types of plantain and often grow in your own yard... Many people eradicate them as weeds in their lawn without knowing they are a great medicinal food. Just don't eat them from your yard if you spray chemicals.
