By not listening to the studio version, you guys missed out on how YES' sound engineer Eddy Offord used these great panning effects between the two channels, which were being experimented with in those days, as stereo recordings were less than a decade old in rock & roll. First listeners love it & comment on it but you won't hear it unless you now do the studio version my guys... ( _and_ it features Bruford on drums)

One of the best videos of Yes bassist Chris Squire is from this same film, Yessongs. "Long Distance Runaround/The Fish" features Chris on "The Fish." His playing in concert was legendary, and he is missed. Yessongs is a great concert movie by one of the two or three most interesting bands in music. Thanks for playing live Yes!

@@melvinwomack3717 Interesting you mentioned that. I was 17 traveling through Europe with friends the summer the members of Yes were working on that album. Can’t remember the city in Switzerland, but crossed paths with Rick Wakeman. He was using a church’s amazing, century old pipe organ to record some of his parts for the “Going For The One” LP. It wasn’t a secret. Everyone in town knew Yes was there and working. There were mobile recording trucks and quite a lot of cables running between the mobiles and the church. Bought the record back in the States when it was released, and I would sit and focus on all of Rick’s work, listening to all the easily distinguishable parts from that organ. Howe of course is remarkable as well. It’s been a favorite of mine ever since. I think I still have some pics and postcards of the inside of the church somewhere. Saw them tour it, “in the round.” It’s been awhile, but I remain an avid Yes, and Classic Era music fan to this day. Just an analog kid in a digital world. I know there are still a few of us left. I am now 71 years old and I saw Yes on this very tour because I recognize their clothes. To this day I have NEVER heard a band play such difficult arrangements with such perfection. Head and shoulders the best concert I ever saw and no one was in their league and I saw every band imaginable. You don't see many bands playing YES songs because they aren't good enough musicians. This is no question a great performance, but the audio leaves a lot to be desired. This is one time that I wish that you had reacted to the studio version. Steve Howe’s guitar solo isn’t on it, but I think you would’ve gotten a better overall feel for the track. But regardless, the performance here is outstanding! This has to be one of the earliest live performances of this song. Regarding Steve Howe's guitar solo on the studio version, Wikipedia says: "Howe built up the guitar parts using overdubs, which was a new experience to him. Howe stated that he created "a 'studioized' solo because it was made up in different sections. I became three guitarists."

Steve Howe came out of more of a Country/Western background than the rest of the band. That's what gave this album such a warm feeling. Yes started out as a Jazzy Rock band with Classical ambitions, but Howe made his mark on this LP. The guy in the gold shawl took their "Classical ambition" to the next level. This band was going in so many directions at once, there was no way they could possibly put out anything dull. Well, not until the century was getting old, anyway.

Awesome live version but Yes in the studio on this is worth checking out as well. They were spot on no matter when I saw them or who was in the band from the early 70s to the mid 90s. One of the top 5 Prog-Rock bands ever in my book, I got to see them, ELP, Pink Floyd, King Crimson and genesis at least a couple times times each back in the 70s in their heyday, memories of a lifetime! They sure don't make music like those bands did anymore, they will be remembered and have adherents like Mozart and Beethoven far into the future, they truly are forever music! Try Epitaph by King Crimson from In the Court of the Crimson King for more greatness. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

I caught them on the 9021Live tour, the Trevor Rabin years. He has some pretty good records too. That era isn't as popular as earlier versions, but that is just a symptom of the 80s. Fabulous choice! Best part of the music world I lived in was going to see these guys play live 8 different times in their prime. Each one is a hall of famer in his own right. Our money was so hard earned we would never think of going to see any band that couldn't go toe to toe with the greats. Why not? There were so many to choose from...............😎

Was lucky enough to see them live once in the early 70s. It was like an out of body experience I didn’t want to end!
