Mina Villegas Art Gidget and Sweetpea are my two Maltese girls. They both passed away only 9 days apart. I think Gidget passed away from a broken heart 💔 after we lost Sweetpea. Some people don’t understand how much we love our furry little friends. I’m reminded of how much I miss them every time I log in. It makes me smile from all the great memories of them. I’m sorry, I don’t know why I felt so compelled to tell you such a sad story but I’m really ok with it now. Time teaches us how to cope. I do want to tell you though that your laugh is infectious and I can tell that you’re a kind, gracious and talented woman! All of you have been so supportive, honestly I'm blown away .. and very inspired too! Hi Pat! Thank you so much! We are in Southern California.. I was noticing the other day that it is very clean wind, you're right! She mostly just ruffles my paper and my hair and my paint lol but I did get upset once. There is wisteria growing here, and I watched all the buds and then they finally bloomed! It was gorgeous! Then three hours later the wind came a whoopin and blew off every last bloom.. I was very upset lol obviously not the right location for that plant!

Do you add the Liquitex Gloss Varnish to all your paints? Do you need to Polycrylic afterwards? Thank you, Mina... you are a wonderful teacher!
@MinaVillegasArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Laurie! Yes, I mix my paints with the Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish. It dries beautifully with a nice luster. I don't feel the need to add additional varnish. If I'm working on a big canvas and I want more shine I can use an Archival UV Resistant Spray Gloss, Krylon has a good one. You could use Polycrylic if you want to, but with the LGM&V, you don't need to. Personal preference 😊

Hi Mina, I’m new to your channel. I especially love watching from birds eye view, it helps me to see your flow logic as you explain. Thanks for sharing. I’m wondering what you are calling your “flow extender”? Or is it just the Payne’s grey and black that you thinned more in lieu of a base pour?? Oh my...a scale.
@MinaVillegasArt5 жыл бұрын
Hi Monica! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos! Yes, my 'flow extender' is just my thinned out Payne's. If I pour it on as a basecoat then the sun and wind start to dry the edges before even pour my cup. So I took out the possibility of it drying by pouring it around my pour to still give the paint something to glide one, and to not lose my center pour design. Scales are not scary lol you can do it 😉 I hope I answered your question

Another fabulous one! How do you calculate the amount of paint Mina? I am asking everybody, for me seems that I have way too much or not enough.....
@MinaVillegasArt5 жыл бұрын
That's one of the hardest parts! There is a chart that tells you how much you need, but I always make up extra paint. And I'm terrible when I'm filling my pour cup, I always want to add more if I have paint lol. It's very tricky to get it right. The best thing I can tell you is get comfortable with one size and experiment until you figure out how much you need for that size, and then use that when figuring out for other sizes. I love the little 5 ounce Dixie Cups, I use those all the time for 12x12 canvas. If you are still learning, I think it's better to have too much paint rather than not enough. I'll see if I can send you the chart 😉
@crislelia5 жыл бұрын
Mina, thank you. I have the chart, I use the smartartmaterials calculator sometimes, Julie Cuts chart have more than double the amount of paint and other artist’s have different quantities also. So confusing 🙂
@best4last9795 жыл бұрын
Looks great!!! You had a very good attitude while you were pouring and lifting the canvas up and down to spread the flow of those beautiful colors. How many miles did you walk while running around your pour? ;o) Love the way you got rid of that solid blue lake. :O)

Do you varnish this or leave it as with the gloss medium you used? How much gloss medium?
@MinaVillegasArt5 жыл бұрын
I may put a coat or two of Golden's Gloss Archival Varnish spray on it just as insurance but I really dont think it needs it. That medium dries beautifully with a gorgeous sheen, it almost feels like plastic on top. I think I used 120 g of gloss medium per color, 60 g of paint and about 10 or 15 g of water. Once that was combined I added 200 g of Floetrol
