I had intended to do a fall planting of carrots, but life got in the way. Thanks for the inspiration & great idea for thinning. It is a lazy Sunday morning, but carrots are the first thing on my agenda today! So HAPPY you are "back in the saddle".......❤

I have seen many ways to plant carrots but never with black pepper. I will be back to see your progress

Just about anything that wouldn't interfere with germination should work. Sand, coffee grounds, finely crumbled or powdered herbs, even garden soil should work just fine. Garden soil would need to be sterilized first (baked in the oven) to kill any weed seeds, fungal spores, or insect eggs, but it would probably be perfect. I just happened to use black pepper because I had a large container of it.
