I bought a Turquoise 140 LR and it's just so beautiful. It rides amazing too... XX Transmission and RF Next carbon wheels. I had a really hard time deciding between the 160 or the 140, but I'm very happy with my 140. I'm happy that you made this video... it made me feel even better about buying the 140 over the 160, not to take anything away from the 160... I still want that bike so bad! lol

Dude that’s a sweet build you got!! I build a 160 for a buddy a few months ago. Just way too much bike for me and where I live. I feel like I could ride any trail I ever want to ride on the 140 and feel super confident!

I test rode the 140 LR a few weeks ago... it was super capable and FUN! I have the 160 because I enjoy Trestle bike park in the summer. It climbs well for a big bike but the 140 LR is probably a better all-rounder for any trail riding. I'm the opposite of you, now I want a 140 LR for my everyday driver lol!

I love my Propain Hugene, it's in the same category as these 140/150 trail bikes. Pedals well, supportive suspension that still soaks up bumps well, not crazy expensive frame sets or full builds.

The Yeti SB140 LR (Lunch Ride) is one of the best Trailbikes made. Here's why. 65* HTA and 77* STA is near perfect all around Trailbike geo; not too long not too short. The 160mm travel Fox 36 with the Grip 2 damper might be the best Trail fork made. The rear suspension pedals efficiently, climbs very well, doesn't wallow, and is very supportive. Put those things together and you get a near perfect Trailbike. If you want to really unleash the SB140, put on some lighter faster-rolling rubber. I ride a Carbon Stumpy Evo Expert with very similar travel, geo and spec. Maybe the rear suspension isn't quite as good as he SB140 but it's close. I recently bought my Stevo 25% off for $4700 on sale and I love it. So much fun. You can get very some good bikes for a lot less money right now. Many bikes are on sale for up to 25% off!
@dustinbjohnson Жыл бұрын
Yah man definitely makes me wonder how the 140 is with a bit faster rolling setup. But such a great bike I agree. I have time on the stumpy evo too. Liked that bike but I think I still prefer the 140. I hear there’s a new stumpy around the corner

I’ve pedaled a 429 and Ridley around a bit. They just didn’t speak to me. And don’t think I’ll own a pivot until they go back to standard boost spacing. I don’t think I’ll ever own another superboost bike again. Too much of a pain when you buy and sell you bikes ever year 🍻

I think those 140/120 trail bikes are very underrated, especially the modern iterations. I know it won’t be your cup of tea but I rode a Reeb SST (140/120) at a demo event and really liked it. I think that new SB120LR would be a weapon on the trails I see in your rides there.

My STEVO frame on sale was under $2200 on sale. I’m sure the Yeti pedals a bit better but also no frame storage either. $4500 should have frame storage. Where the STEVO shines is in rough terrain which is what I ride in New England. Smoothest stuff I ride is VT and I ride my regular Stumpy there. It’s quite a bit lighter.

How does this compare to the v3 hightower? Also ever pedal rocky mountains? sounds like the RM element maybe what you are looking for, I haven't found the limits of that bike yet
@dustinbjohnson Жыл бұрын
It’s kinda similar to the Hv3 with the longer chainstays now. Still the yeti has a bit more pep in its step up hill. And the new yeti feels a bit more plush on the downs compared to the old 130. Leans much closer to the Hightower now

thanks for the review, thinking of investing in a SB140. what about the LR C2? A lot cheaper , is the TURQ frame worth the extra cost?
@dustinbjohnson Жыл бұрын
I have gone round and round on that question myself. I mean unless you’re counting grams I doubt anyone can really tell a difference. I heard the non Turq frame are a touch stronger. But I can’t confirm nor deny that claim .. 😂

What do you think about this M frame 465 reach with 50mm stem instead of a more long reach with shorter stem? At 5’10” i’ve 150/140 trail bike, 475 reach and to get the front grip feeling i like, i need to put a 50mm stem, but resulting in an overall bike that start to feel too long. Maybe should i go back in the 460 range reach?
@dustinbjohnson Жыл бұрын
My scor has a 460 reach and I run a 40mm stem and after riding the 140 with a longer stem I really liked that. Not sure the reach number or stem length I’ll have to check. But at 5’10” I thought the yeti felt dialed as a medium

Looks like you’re going to have to see what the sb120 LR is all about now too?!?!? Fwiw my ripley is set up super similar to the 120 LR… we may have discussed this before, but have you ridden the latest and greatest ripley’s or ripmos? Im also curious what about the bikes you mentioned have edged out EVIL for you? I agree with you about YETI bikes being sexy…. They really are You know, you brought about a point regarding the yeti bikes being worth 1,000-1,500 more per frame than the rest of the crop… i do feel that switch infinity is a step above the others… and the newer linkage hardware design seems to allow the moving parts to move with more ease… i think yeti is the benchmark here… but if you want a no fuss design with hella low maintenance its going to be hard to beat Ibis….ibis is also killing it in the weight department as well…. Right now i feel is hands down the best bang for the buck and if money is no object go YETI
@dustinbjohnson Жыл бұрын
Yah man I forgot to mention the switch infinity. That’s a great point! I still love evils. They just have such character. But for boise. I think I like the yeti a bit better… maybe? Haha. Ibis has just ever intrigued me from a looks standpoint. But I hear great things. I’ve pedaled a Ripley once. But that’s it.
@MikeesTexas Жыл бұрын
Aaaah i remember now… i do recall your feelings about the looks, i feel the same way,,,, but i love the ride feel so much and other details about the Ibis bikes that make me a fan…. Sidenote: i just put a Fox 36 with a vorsprung kit at 140 on my ripley…. Holy hell!!! The fork is insanely good!!! I feel like i need to put a minus one or 1.5 deg angleset on it now though… the axle to crown on the 36 seems to be throwing of my geo slightly… i struggled in the climbs this morning
