Theres nothing ugly about this bowl. Phil you are an artist and an inspiration to this craft. The part i love best about your wood turning is you look for the beauty in Gods creation. You have taught me so very much on your videos and you make it interesting . Thank you and keep up the good work. I know im not the only one who feels this way and i just wanted you to know you are an inspiration and a great teacher to wood turners young and old

I took a walk back in time to rewatch this one. Now that I have been turning larger pieces , I appreciate this one more. What a beautiful well earned piece . I use the outside edge of my gouge to get in there , then slowly roll the gouge toward the center as I near the bottom of the side . Thats where the long handle on the carter and son's 5/8 gouge comes in handy.

Hi, Mr. Anderson! Another stunning piece. Please thank your grandson for giving us such an interesting look into your problem solving process. I watched the hazelnut video but did not comment because I could not make up my mind about the finished product. Phil, I was so pleased to hear you say towards the end of the video "I like it & that's what counts" before going on to say it was important that we, the viewers liked it too. Yes, you want the viewers to like the piece but firstly, it is important that YOU, the creator, like the piece in the first instant. I think this is such an important stage for the Artist/Craftsman to like the piece. To me it has a very interesting grain which was shown up to great effect by the lovely finish applied. I like it, I think that it is a very nice piece worthy of your skills. Thanks for sharing it, Don

Yew ! My favourite wood as a woodturner and the most beautiful we have in Brittany , once I had to spend two days removing iron nails from a stump before starting turning , one piece showed a bluish area because of the reaction to iron , like yours ! Yew can kill or save you : it is highly toxic , a neighbour of mine once lost 17 cows and gave me quickly the responsible tree , but it contains a stuff called taxol that can cure cancer ! Beautiful bowl , best finish ! ( I often think it is a pity to waste actually more of such precious stuff than what remains after..) thanks to you !

Thank you, Youenn, I'm glad you like it! I didn't know all of that information about Yew. I'll have to be careful in the future. Phil

I’ll tell you a little joke Phil….during the Covid lockdown, the pope was trying to contact God. Every day for three weeks the Holy Father called out to God, but reply’s non came. The pope was on the point of despair, when God suddenly answered, yes Holy Father what’s the problem.? God, where have you been, I’ve been trying to contact you for three weeks…Sorry Holy Father, I’ve been working from home…really, where’s home…Yorkshire, said God…….Yorkshire people think of Yorkshire as Gods own county
