Nice discussion! I love these Welta cameras! The Watson was made by Welta, for Burke & James Co. of Chicago, that was for years, a supplier of all equipment photographic. They used known camera makers and put either Watson, or Burke & James on many types of cameras. Thanks for the review.

Just to clarify, hahah, the min. Focusing distance of my oly zuiko 35mmf2 lens Is about 8 inches....don't know if you can tell by how rambly and how many 'ums' there are that this isn't scripted, but I just wanted to make that correction. Thanks for watching!

Also, the serial number on the shutter side, is the shutter serial # not the lens serial #. You can check the Compur, or Prontor serial numbers online. The lens, if it’s a Zeiss, or Schneider, or other …. Has serial # info online, too. Welta cameras generally did not have serial #s, although my Welti has 1070, inside the film chamber.

just biught one of these and did a bit research.I believe the pre war version has a 1/500 or 1/300 shutter speed with zeiss tessar 50/3.5 or meyer optik 50/2.9 or Kreuznach ....and post war ones with 1/250 shutterspeed and zeiss tessar 50/2.8.I remember there are so many more different variations of lens and shutters.Really interesting small machine and take good quality shots!

Thanks, yeah, there are so many variations. I guess just having it is good enough, hahah, I don't really need to know more. What one did you get?
