I graduated high school in 1986 and this original Bob tune, Crisis, was one of my daily plays and all-time faves. Later, in 2004, I named my first son Kaya after Bob's LP this track came from. My relationahip with a higher power, reggae music and daily positive affirmations hes been life-long. The Fugees were one of the only hiphop groups I ever loved, along with Digable Planets and Arrested Development. To now see Lauren dance with YG and sing praises in 2024 makes me cry with joy. This song is so special, I had my mom listen to this during a tense moment for our family. My mom is my grandma’s POA, 2 days ago she had to make the difficult decision to allow doctors to defibrillate my grandma as it was the only means to save her life. Absolutely crazy, and my grandma was still alert (before sedation) not fully understanding what would need to be done so that she wouldn’t suffer catastrophically (clot circulation). My mom was alone in that moment texting me as it was happening. I felt so heartbroken. We cried, we prayed so hard. She received 2 shocks (the limit is 3) and returned to normal sinus rhythm. She lived to see another day and we are so grateful. We know that we can’t keep her forever but we are so blessed. She’s the center point of our family. We have a cruise scheduled for next month and I hope we all get to go as planned and shower her with all of our love while we relax and enjoy her. I shared this story to say, we all face adversity but give God the praise anyway… through it all, no matter the outcome. I will always love this song. Thank you YG Marley for sharing this with us! ❤
