I lived in thailand for two years was in Chiang Mai too, miss it so much such a beautiful land ...Loy Krathong isn't the only similarity. They also have a festival similar to Holi ...where people drench each other. Thais do it right ...everything is presented so beautifully

Such a lovely video, we too experienced the festival not the last part of video. I wish I could see it in north rather than south. In south it’s not that huge like in Chiang Mai. I was born in northern Thailand and many of my people ( Hmong) visit Thailand every year. The lanterns festival is kinda like Diwali. It's magical, manifesting to experience Loy Krathong & hope to visit Thailand this year. Thai really knows how to sell their culture and beautify their country. India got a lot of work to catch up w/ other top tourism countries! I love India, hope to visit India at least once in my lifetime. 🙏

This vlog made me happy and there is good reason for it. You guys have shot this so beautifully, amidst all those crowds. I was there in 2022 to attend the festival in Chiang Mai, and the crowds were insane, haha! Absolutely loved attending that festival, making my own krathong and floating it, and well, the lanterns - that's a different story. That was the first year when flying lanterns in the city was banned. So that was extremely disappointing. Not just for me, but for all the thousands of foreigners there who wanted to see it. Now, there were private events similar to what you have shown in the video, happening away from the city, with a hefty entry fee. It just didn't feel right to pay so much money to attend a cultural festival which is being artificially curated in one place, primarily for Instagram. It felt neither cultural, nor worth the money. Not to forget, the insane number of fires that were in the news from those sites. I gave it a miss. But still, Loy krathong remains my favourite experience from all of Thailand. The friends I made that night from around the world, discovering the similarities of loy krathong with Karthik Purnima celebration in Odisha, the huge parade with jhaankis that happens the day after the main festival, and not to forget, the way all of Chiang Mai city is decorated - it is so amazing and absolutely worth experiencing. Made a vlog out of it all, but of course, it's no where close to how beautifully you have shot it even with all the crowds there :D
