My best excuse was when I worked at mcdonald's about 10 years ago. I was in London for the weekend with a mate and I forgot I had 2 extra shifts over the weekend. I told them I couldn't do the 2 shifts because I was picking up a speedboat in Devon with my dad and he needed the help so I had to go with him. Worked sweet. 😂

HOWEVER... The most Random excuse from the Rail Company about WHY the Train was cancelled was a total One off...as I've never heard it again...!! It was when I lived in Enfield and travelled daily to Canary Wharf with a lovely 3 Train one way journey.... it was a crazy hot heat wave which Train Journeys were NASTY!!! However.... Upon Cancelling the Trains.... they announced This!!! We are really sorry for the delays in your journeys along with the current cancellations..... This is due to the Wrong Type Of SUN 🌞 on the Track!!! WTF
