the opening scene of the new update to YIIK: A Postmodern RPG. the new update looks really cool and I'd recommend purchasing the game for when the new update releases sometime this year. it looks really good and the developers deserve some support. if one of the devs finds this video and wants me to take it down ill do so gladly. I just thought this opening kicked ass

@@javierescudero7686 Unless they completely remake the game from the ground up, I don’t think it will be. No man’s sky biggest issue is that it promised too much and delivered too little on launch. They were able to get their audience back by adding those promised features over time. YIIK didn’t get flak because it overpromised features, it was hated because a lot of core battle mechanics were confusing and annoying, the writing was long winded and pretentious, and the plot was a complete mess. There’s definitely some good aspects to it though, so I could see the game succeeding if they completely remade some of the core battle mechanics and brought in an editor to fix the writing.

They're redoing the combat and rewriting parts of the story while adding new story beats. It's a possible NMS comeback story.

@@catcactus1234 they biggest problem is they're pretentious, and they are also proud of it, you can't fix that remaking the game, people is maybe unfamiliar with this but it's a common problem around indie young developers, the thing most of them fail to get people's attention, this one was so awful that got a lot. It's so obvious they don't believe there's something bad with game in it's core, by fixing some parts they believe the game have imperfections, but the game is good in some level... What they should be doing it's start a new project this time trying to apply all the things they have learned from yiik, and have some self criticism, but this guys are basically Alex... they are just as bland as they begin...

@@catcactus1234 From what I can tell this is going to be a complete overhaul of the original game's story at the very least. Already this opening cinematic is straying a lot more from the original story, and taking some more creative liberties with it I'm honestly excited to see.

Despite how utterly laughable YIIK was, it's admirable that the devs seem to be making an earnest attempt to salvage it rather than just leaving the whole mess to the annals of bad game history. Even if this big update still doesn't result in a good game, I can respect that they made an attempt.

Ok, am I insane for being actually interested on YIIK for once? The graphics look a lot more vibrant and unique, the new characters are intriguing in narrative terms, the music is actually music... If the story that ends up coming from this is good, this might be the biggest glow-up for a terrible videogame since No Man's Sky! Good luck with this, ACKK Studios!

YIIK was a game with a lot of very, very cool concepts, great visuals, and a good few characters with potential. Maybe if the characters are fleshed out, the gameplay is made less of a slogfest, and all the dollar store prose is toned down, we've got something genuinely great. although I'm not sure if they'll fix the more tasteless aspects considering the caption on Rory lol i didnt like the guy that much but MAN c'mon now, his deal was FUCKED
